The shape of things to come?

Post by mr lugsy »

preview2009 this week will see some new equipment for single sites unveiled ,a brave attempt to breakaway from the currently tired formulaic approach to awp design is being made by gemini games, amongst others. a couple of their new pieces catch the eye immediately.

in what looks to me like an horizon cabinet ,they have an swp on an lcd screen called cash stacker, its in the new amg catalogue for an october launch, but no info on geminis site i can find.
its a take on giant stacker (the bullshit large prize vender)where you do the same thing ,but for cash :) .ive got a good feeling about this one,for a short time maybe.

they have another ,a golf game swp, pertaining true skill, a sure fire winner here ,prepare for the roll out .can't see this being unpopular with joe public, but if there's any potential profit ,who knows?

I can see games like this being the future of the industry.

In a typical pub now it seems that the ItBox's, Paragons etc. get significantly more play than the AWPs. I don't know what the takings are like as they take money at a much lower rate. I do think where they'll succeed though is vfm. Sure, you're not going to win a lot but they provide entertainment and SWPs are more social and more socially acceptable than fruits will ever be.

agree 100 percent, and can see this happening shortly, why would you not give something "different" a try, when half of your.............say......6 machines are not getting sufficiently punted, that added to the fact that there would be no license anyway , then you may see why some would see this as a no lose opportunity to try something new. a bit of evolution maybe.not necessarily a bad thing for a player capable of evolving too.

The thing is though that AWP's still take £200-£500 per week, I seriously doubt (unless someone tells me otherwise) that SWP's take anywhere near that amount. Think about it, the reason they always look like they are getting played is that £1 can last a good 5-10 mins on one of these, how long does £1 last on an AWP...

Don't get me wrong, a new idea is a good thing. It's just I can't see anything taking off unless it can take similar amounts that AWP's can.

obviously an swp would take less than a decent fruit, but certainly alot more than a rubbish one that sits all day taking a few quid here and there.

Has anyone seen the new WMS Rich Little Piggies B3 game or the DOND Players Choice.

Or indeed any of the new progressives for the bingo hall or arcade?

I think they are gonna make something of this industry. They are trying to get people out of casinos and into arcades!

Amusement arcades, pinball machines, piers, circuses, fun fairs. Inevitably they are all going to die out. Sad but true. So much for progress.

Do you know any names of any of these bingo hall progressives?

Also check out IGTs 'bingo' Pharoah's Gold, Lucky Larry the Lobster and Hexbreaker, change your luck.

Play on 1p to 20p on ten lines for a chance to grab a share/all of the 'bingo' progressive pot.

yeh these things are in bingo halls on £2000jp, you only win the full progressive pot if you play £2 a go, say you were playing £1, you only get half for example. Nothing to see here really, just random rubbish.

Sorry wrong Harry,

WMS are not linked on a progressive yet in the UK. But no doubt will be soon if the Astra concept takes off.

There ASTRA progressives which have £1000 jackpot and use the MicroBingo system. the arcade versions are ArcadeBingo and have upto £50 progressive. The games available are the full spectrum of astra games including reel king.
