As for P1 dials...well, they couldn't have been as naive as to think that they didn't need to block winstopper AT ALL could they??????? It wasn't as if people weren't going to master it.

Free wins on machines are fairly easy to cover up as being accidental, but thunderbird, supercharged...... No way!!

I remember two programmers getting jail time for putting a 12 button code into the original cops and robbers, the old skool amongst us will surely remember this. It was in the papers even.

Something like "Load the machine up with 13 and a half credits, enter a twelve button code.£3 drops in with guaranteed repeat chance NINE times to get £30." Then the machine would go stone dead to recover the percentage. Someone checking the code discovered the routine and the programmers were prosecuted.

I would imagine that some programmer fraud, when discovered, is intentionally kept quiet by the manufacturers.

The "button code trick" was on the £3 cash/£6 token cops 'n robbers wasn't it? Around 1993 if my grey cells recall correctly. Was meant to have been a fallout between the two programmers that uncovered it before the machines went out on site. By the way, anyone know a guy called Steve Tyson? He was test man for bellfruit i think and "missed" most of the faults. Now works for games warehouse. Now then . . . . . .

Insert 23 credits and tap in a button code and away you go, or something like that. He ended up in prison eventually for credit card fraud I think. Then he got out, threw his girlfriend through a window a few months later and got banged up again.
similar to the nobles exi bar, the full empty, someone , i wont mention his name on here programmed a full empty in the machine. it took tham years to find it out and he got the sack i believe,

i remember there was one for grid runner, many years ago the area manager of the north east of nobles went on grid runner with a piece of paper he typed in a button code , inseerted a credit and the next feature was a super feature. all the tech 's were round the machine in suprise.

the astra programmer for classic slot got the sack i believe for that empty.

I'm afraid that rumour is untrue. No-one got sacked for Classic Slot. It wasn't put in deliberately either, it was just one of those games that you could beat if you played it optimally.

the early maygay empty's were accidental, superpots, money money money, cluedo, cash is king etc etc ,,,,, they basically all had the same profile which meant as long as it wasn't rolling or red, and you could obtain a win that was £6 or above, it was free,,,,, im quite sure that great escape/italion job, fruit explosion etc would have had the same profile but alas there was no way to obtain the £6 's and above.

as for most blatant ''put ins'' ,,,,,,, gotta be thunderbird . ,,,,, the clear winner amongst other did they / didn't they suspects

ide wager flashback was accidental oversight aswell as power5 ,,,,,,, despite the wins not being free ,,,,,,, what fuck'ed em up there was having a set maximum board cost.

as others have said, as long as there's man's greed and ''get rich quick'' opportunities there'll be dodgy programmers. :P

Yeah they chipped the first roms and all it did was freeze the machine when shuffling away the last nudge.

I've often wondered on TGE whether all those cheeky 6 and 8 pound wins that you used to get off nudges when you exchanged into the board from getting the barcode were free or not. Maybe they were, but you couldn't get them often enough to make a difference...

LOL, no it didnt! Dont tell me you didnt know you had to gamble to a win first before doing the old abracadabra truffle shuffle malarkey button pressing maneuver? The 2nd way was even quicker than the 1st if i remember rightly as there was no waiting around for the JP to spin in as it was instant!
