In that picture posted, yes I can only see 3 differences, but on STD aren't all the differences normally on the same side/picture?
In that one it's weird as in

Pic 1 has
2 bits added
1 bit missing

Pic 2 has
1 bit added
2 bits missing

Could one could argue that there are 6 in total ? does seem a bit suss !

I copied the image and cropped & enlarged them below and there are only 3 between the 2 when viewed in quick succession repeatedly using IrfanView - you can quite easily see the differences, added them if anyone else want to try it.

Excellent post DJS. As you can see from this thread, I have been a regular 'Spot the Difference Deluxe' player for many years (makes me feel old!!) I always knew that there was one less difference than required to complete levels 9 and 10, after the software revision came out.

I was fortune enough to play several machines using the original Deluxe software that had five differences all the way up to the jackpot (level 10). But of course, this enabled me (and others) to win the jackpot every time and empty the machine!! I can understand that some kind of software revision was required in order to stop 'eye crossers' like myself to stop winning the jackpot every time. However, the option that Sabec/MIB decided upon (i.e removing the fifth difference!!) was a lousy programming decision that in my view, should have contravened part of the gaming regulations. How they got away with this one is beyond me, but then the industry doesn't really care does it! The gaming board really need to place tighter restrictions on SWP's such as this, but that's another story entirely.

I suppose there is still a chance of winning the jackpot on this game if you are incredibly lucky and manage to hit the 'not different difference' on levels nine and ten. However, the instructions on the help screen state you must 'find 5 differences between the two pictures', this is false advertising as there simply are not five differences between the two pictures used on levels nine and ten, this is what frustrates me the most.

I believe that the designers should have come up with a better option of making the jackpot harder (not impossible) to reach. Why not offer the Jackpot (£20) and if someone like myself wins it, the machine simply refuses to offer and cash prize until the percentage has been made back? Although considering this option makes me realise the dilemma in that this is another lousy option. Spot the Difference 2 was even worse in my opinion in that it is 100% impossible to ever reach level 7 due to the speed of the timer. This means that the jackpot is 100% unobtainable (as is practically any win over £4), so how they get away with advertising a jackpot than can never ever be obtained is ludicrous.

Anyway, I’m in a bad mood this morning, I overslept, got up late and felt like moaning about something! I shouldn’t really as I am still taking as much money from Gamesnets/Paragons/Indie’s etc as I can. Spot the Difference Deluxe is usually good for £6-£9 (or £10+ on indie’s/paragons) and the awful Spot the Difference Ultimate is usually good for £2!!!. Ultimate is a horrible game indeed, in the several 100’s of credits that I’ve played on this game, never once have I been offered anything over £2. How any ‘normal’ player is supposed to win anything is beyond me. Odd One Out is a far better game in my opinion. A difficult game made considerably easier by crossing your eyes, I actually won the jackpot on this last night for the first time (£10).

So there we are, I feel better now, thanks for the post DJS, nice to see some quality pictures of a blatantly fixed and corrupt game that I can stick on my wall and admire. Good luck to all the cross-eyer’s out there, lets take as much from the bastards as well can!!
