In a bid to keep this moving- the answer is that the German naval fleet which was scuttled at Scapa Flow after the First World War provides a handy large source of steel that is completely free from radiation. All steel forged post Hiroshima is minutely radioactive which plays havoc with space navigation so parts of satellites are constructed from the Scapa Flow steel.

yes, good fact NM, i liked that one.
as for this ludivico joker, no idea but he sounds like he might be a slavic italian so i'll go with the last pope to be sacked.
(or is it just the canon who can get fired? HARGH! HARGH! HARGH!)
