Its now happened to me, had a phone call to say we've gotta change venues for our Thursday night pool team, the locals shut as of today :(

I read yesterday pubs are shutting at a rate of 5 a day.

My missus works in an arcade, and she tells me, since the smoking ban has come in, their takings are down 50%.

I'd give it 2 years max, and the only pubs open will be town centres and larger pubs i well built up areas. But if the industry decide to increase the prize/stake to £60/60p or even a £1 a go , even less places will be able to survive in the current climate, as ive said on a previous post , pubs etc need all the help they can get now, the smoking ban has hit them hard, im not a smoker but i think the government have shot themselves in the foot bigtime, Can't see them doing a uturn on it tho. should be like it was years ago with smoking rooms, at least non smokers can decide if they want to go in there then thats they're own choice.... not the governments!! :|

Our club has put in a multi games machine (word search, spot thedifference, chess, quizzes etc) at £1 for TEN games. Takes as much as one of the fruit machines.
Roulette free since December 2011.

yep

I would'nt mind smoking rooms, as long as its not the same room as the pool table/fruits and juke box, let them all sit together in a room with a few chairs, you still smell it the pubs anyway, they stand in the foyer or the doorway anyway and the smoke/smell travels back in.
