Anyone had a bank acc closed on them?

Post by blingking »

I have had a nat west acc for the last 10 years or so, used for paying bills. DD and rent standing orders etc.

Not really paid coins in as my savings are in an acc that dont belong to me for various reasons, but to pay my bills and stuff i still put £1k - £2k a month in coins until i was spoken to by te manager about 3 months ago and asked where do i get all this money from. Well i explained it was just savings that i was using to pay my bills. I asked if there was a problem and told that if i continue to pay this amount into my account it would cause problems. But if you check my acc you will see £1500 going in each month to cover bills of £1500 each month with no more than £2000 in the acc at any time.

I was told there is no limit to the amount of coins or notes i put in my acc but if i continue this way then i will have a problem!

WTF!!!!!

So from then on i always changed most of my coins in Barclays and put notes in my acc. Then my partner went to put £600 in coins in my nat west acc to cover my rent but she was refused, and told that no money was to be accepted into this account as she could not explain as to how she got the coins. She said it wasnt her acc and was not aware of where the coins came from.

Well since then i made a complaint via phone to nat west complaints dept that told me they shouldnt refuse me and that also if i was being investigated for money laundering then they shouldnt have told me, which they told me on several occasions i was laudering money! I thought laundering money was possibly £10k or £100k a time, not £1500 a month to pay bills?

Anyway, i got the 30 day notice now so i cant even make a complaint! NICE ONE! Well done Nat West! Great service!

I wouldnt mind but it was only in the last year i was refused an upgrade on my acc for not having enough money going through it!

I lost my acc for attempting to put coins in, and yet it wasnt even me that tried to put the money in?

Anyone else had shit with banks like this?

BTW, my rent didnt get paid as i didnt get the money in on time! Now i somehow have to explain what is going on! fuck this shit!

classed as money laundering... you need to find another way to get the coins changed through....

thre is some rule/law about the amount of coins you can transact in one period... and 1500 a month is way too many..

most people will go for years without encountering any problems whatsoever, but you have been the unlucky minority in this case...

you should have tried to get rid of the coins... a common few ideas are:

changing up in pubs you are friendly in
changing in your local where you dont gamble
changing up in arcades
taxi drivers
put all of your coins in a roulette machine in a bookies and print a recipt off.. they usually give you notes for the "win"
simply go into your bank, and explain you are a professional gambler??? put it down as your profession on your account details etc?

buy all of your food shopping at the self service tills, you'll find you can do about £100 of coins into one of these within a minute or so.... easy if no-one is watching

find a shop with a coin counter in (a lot of tescos seem to have them at the minute) go in daily and do all of your £1s, TELL the person you give the recipt to that you won loads of money on a bandit, have a bit of banter with them, and you'll get away with it for ages

you're reluctance to admit where the coins were from lost you your bank account.. if you'd told them, they might have let you continue, after all we deal with a very shady part of the law where molney laundering is involved,as long as you arent doing anything wrong, you should be ok to admit it to a few people.

Coin counters take about 8% commission.

If you pay in the equivalent of Euro 15,000 in a single transaction or a series of transactions (linked) then the bank is legally obliged to enquire into where the money has come from under The Money Laundering Act revision of 2007.

Go on the dole, then you'll have your rent paid for and your council tax paid for.. Thats 2 less direct debits!!! Therefore reducing your incoming amount below Money Laundering Guidelines amount.

Jeff i do claim, but you still have to pay the rent yourself. My rent is £800 a month and i get housing benefit of £560 to cover it :? But i still have to make the payment via my bank to my landlord.

Also it wasnt even myself that tried to put the money in my bank, so what im saying is that someone made a payment or tried to make a payment into my acc which ended in me losing my acc! Yes it was my partner but they didnt know that, could have been anyone!

These money laundering laws along with a lot of other bullshit laws such as the terrorism laws are used incorrectly! The fact is that the workers in Nat West dont like me, even when i have paid my rent into my acc in notes they have to make phone calls and stuff to make sure its ok for me to pay it in. It was obvious to me something like this would happen in the end as they all have such an attitude down there!

BTW , Spyder, dont bother trying to pay for your shopping in pound coins. I got refused after doing my shopping at xmas. My bill came to around £150 ish which i was going to pay in coins but the person on the till called the manager and they said they cant accept them due to money laundering! I had to go and get notes from the cash point outside or leave the shopping there! Made me look a right cunt in front of everyone!

Also been refused once when paying for petrol in sainsburys or tescos cant remember, £70 approx.

Money laundering is just a word they use when they want to piss you off.

Its hard enough earning the cash, and just as hard to get rid of it! Maybe i should just stay poor! Is a lot easier!

basically bling ,i think youve been taken for a c##t ,as stated on here previously any ammount of pound coins is legal tender ,can't you just say you got lucky on a 500 pound jackpot ? and the scabby bastard arcade owner refused to give you notes? if you put your mind to it you'd be able to change the coins to notes ,no problemo.....there's even coin to note changers in some places now,and many small shops would be glad to take some.
over the years i've paid in coin for a plethora of different things ,yeah you get the occaisional funny look ,but at the end of the day ,if you say you aint got it in notes ,chances are very favourable they'll take your nuggets, and myself,i've never been refused ,just use a bit of diplomacy man :)

I am shocked that some people play and get good money and still sign on and think its ok and of course because they play thats the reason they dont have time to get a job.
Well fine but so many claim it is a full time job playing , so treat it like that and dont sign on .....
I pay for that out of a thing called tax though I doubt some would even know what it is
For fucks sake if you must claim at least have the intelligence to keep your mouth shut about it.
Personally if you are playing full time and claiming I fucking hope you get caught .

I paid 14 k tax last year and earnt every penny to amass such a tax bill.
If what I have said applies to any person reading this then you are fucking scum
If it doesnt apply to you then you have no problem with it.

I have an opinion so that makes me twisted and narrow minded ?
Are forums not about opinion ?
Have I abused you
Are you upset because my original comments apply to you ?
Are we done now ?
Or do you have more ?
I ama little disappointed however that you descended into mild abuse so soon in our little chat
I had you down as being a little more intelligent than that ....
Oh well.

Lugsy, yeah your right, it is legal tender and i think im right in saying that by law anything with the queens head on is classed as legal tender which means i could pay for my shopping with stamps should i wish. But in the real world it just dont work like that. Put a wanker in charge and you will get treated like a cunt as i proved so many times before.

Petera, this is also a subject im a passionate about!
Anyone is allowed to go into the job centre and ask for a claim form.
You fill it out and wait for the result!

And if you think by me not claiming, or even 10,000 other people not claiming would lower your tax bill then you are very much mistaken!

You paid £14k in tax last year? So? We all pay tax! I paid about £14k in tax just on my petrol last year, and earnt every penny from machines! I wouldnt normaly feel the need to tell everyone but seems like a competition from your post!
