The great £2000 theory!
Yep, although the thing is with Butlins you've got a constant through trade. It's not like say there was a £5 Ziggy in an arcade up here in the Midlands. It gets batterred, the £5 addicts get sick and tired of it holding out for jackpot for ages and then when they finally get there, if they get there, no repeat. Then it just doesn't get played. Wait until refill, kill it and it makes a loss that week. I can't see that happenning at Butlins. As long as you waited for it to be ahead again, you'd be laughing. I guess it just didn't take much anyway.

maybe , we live in dif worlds
because to me 100 a day is still very good in 2008 ,
the average wage in this country for a 5 day week is well below 500quid
i would settle for a consistent ton a day tax free , as opposed to minimum wage
or maybe ive just taken your comment out of context and dont fully understand what you were trying to say ,
I would have to agree that a one'r a day is a good respectable sum of money that many hardworking people still aspire to.
How many hours on the minimum wage is that, after tax?![]()
i think the point has been missed here, making 100 a day nowadays is not good enough. back in the days i can safely say 5k a week was the norm, including clubbers.
im sure some of u would agree who been there. ok, the clubbers went back to awp's . u can now see 100 a day is peanuts. how many times have you got involved in various machines in arcades, hearing it full , and before u know it your 200 in. very familiar story, this is where the edge has been lost. you nolonger have the edge the machine has.
putting 20 in for a baord on a dead red ? ... the list goes on.
thats why 100 isnt worth it.
could you work doing a 30k job for 10 years for example, then move jobs doing the same for 20 k? that my point

lol - fairpoint, yep, just remembering that red 20p can do a sneaky repeat or two when stone. Ah well. Just not enough muppets about who want a jackpot at all costs I guess.
5k a week? Jesus. I guess I must have been one of the bottom, bottom, bottom, bottom boys then <ahem> no comments please. You must be on about slams + humptys, surely not just japes, grapes and tapes.
grandslam88, always thought you were slammer.
Is it more a case of a PMK and Rude double act? Different people, but similar mindsets and 'career' paths?

I stopped off in Bedford a couple of days ago and met a player from Eastbourne (he said), and then met two other players called Carl & Simon.
wasn't looking forward to working as a quartet, but as it was just social, went along with them. Glad I did as it was pretty good and ended up making £310 each, before expenses.
Assuming this would happen every day (but it won't), then 2K a week is achievable.

well i never had the luxury of being a casino player, so yes your right i cant appreciate the comedown from 5k a week, and ive obviously not been a top top top boy lol
and thus i never did grandslams etc ,
but ask anyone from a road sweeper to a millionaire, and they would all agree that 100 a day is a more than fair wage for anyone ,
youve just been spoilt,

I used to play poker for a living. Poker is a game of equal chance where we play for each others money. The funny thing was, you never spoke to a losing player. You ask people how they're running and they were all either, making a fortune, making a small profit or at very worst, "running pretty bad...I'm about even for the month" Somebody had to be losing. The casinos sure as well weren't adding any money to the poker economy.
Decent poker players keep accurate records. they know what games, what stakes and what venues are their winners and losers.
How many fruit machine players keep accurate records? very very few.
We've all stood behind some mug and watch them pump their giro into a machine then if they're asked how the got on tell you, "only about a tenner down"
Gamblers, like people suffering from any addiction (there's another can of worms) tell lies to themselves as well as to others. Of course it's possible to make a profit from machines but anyone claiming to make £300 a day, whether that's a minimum or an average, I believe is in full addict delusion mode. If someone showed me their records, or their Porsche in the pub carpark, I'll take it all back.

My figures were based on non empties (in fact, somewhere I said, the 2k a week guy clearly hasnt worked out a good empty).silent g wrote:wetherspoons refloating wiyb £250 a day.
go out extra early wait outside one spoons with £100 in your pocket
when it opens 30min later you walk out with atleast £320 and thats just one machine.
do every spoons in the area before the other punters get there and you've made over a grand in a few hours on one day.
a few months ago almost every spoons in my area had a wiyb and all refloated.
all chipped now but you could have made alot more than a few grand a week just from wiyb.
Incidently, I hope you werent emptying a machine everyday thats refilled everyday, thats pathetic.

um... what Im saying Lee, is that 100 a day is just an average wage, nothing special. The life of a slotter is degrading at best, the only improvement we have had over the years (physically, not financially - is the smoking ban). For non-smokers, getting home everyday stinking of booze and fags is hardly glamourous. When I was earning good money, I didnt care as I was saving for the future for a better life (theory blown out the window thanks to Gala Casinos, but thats Grosvenors/Stanleys loss the idiots).
The amount of times you have to 'defend' yourself and get called a theif/cunt and so forth for doing northing wrong used to drive me to despair! Im not a violent person, but I could see myself getting a criminial record before long if I carried on purely from the amount of dickheads / wineheads / inbreds you meet on a daily basis that drink in these shitty pubs which frankly deserve to be closing down left right n centre...
You are lucky cos you have a big build Lee, so people are more likely to just ignore you, rather than annoy and make smirk comments- not all of us are so fortunate. For a 'basic' wage, I wasnt interested anymore.
cheers, Mark

Leciester was golden though. Absolutely golden back in the day.
My point exactly. A few of us were doing leicester, yet they always had good money in.
If that was bedford - they'd have been switched off.
Cities (especailly places with nice big universities) are the ONLY places you can make money in now. Period.
Frankly, most of that is because of the genereous rich students. Those cunts seem to have infinite money! Wish casinos were more common back in the slam days, fck me, Id' have had quite a few grants off the tw*ts.

Ive no idea who grandslam88 is. But im pretty sure he wasnt doing them from the start when you could literally count the players on one hand. Even after a couple of rechips you'd still count the people who could stake switch on two hands.
Anyway, this is off topic.
