There are some but not as many as there were a couple of years back...MATT99 wrote:must be few players there
We did a pub route last thursday night, 30+ machines in 10 pubs and i never saw anyone else playing.
The arcades used to be packed too, now they're just full of oldies on the lo-techs and compulsives on the £500's.
In the town centre there's 3 decent arcades, about 10/12 pubs all with 2-4 machines and as far as i'm aware there's not many (if any) pro's around.EasyEasy wrote:Whats about that way?Fruiter wrote:I'm from Wigan, but i wouldn't call myself much of a 'player' nowadays.
I always key and rarely find empty machines, nearly all i've played recently have been less than £50 off full.
Just the usual garbage to be honest, of the 30 or so machines we played last week 25 must have been DOND's, there are a few goldminers (+clones), PCB 2's, Here & Nows etc...
There was one unchipped p5 but i'd say that's long gone now after i gave away the location on here last month.
As i said i aint much of a player anymore and don't even pay much attention to the names of new stuff, the DOND phase has put me right off fruits!
I'd much rather go and have a couple of hours play down the arcade on some classics!

2000-2004 I don't think I ever payed for a night out thanks to Wigan, and we're talking Thurs, Fri and Saturday nights too. :P
The arcade opposite GAME used to be good but I haven't been for a good 6 months (has it still got the VIU and the HiLo Watha style Royle, Fruiter?).
Back in the day there was a great little arcade near the train station, unfortunately a family of Pakistani's took it over and ran it into the ground.
They were more interested in playing on their laptop and selling dodgy clothes than the machines.

It re-opened a few months back and the new owners are sound, i go in once a week and always do well, most machines pay well and give very good streaks.... They have a JJ that always goes for £105, a Most Daunting that is soo easy to push for £75 and a decent selection of lo-techs, including the classic Big Top which has to be one of the easiest forces for a lo-tech!
They also do a £10 match bonus on thursdays, just stick a tenner in any machine and they'll put a tenner in too, not a great deal but it helps when i'm just going in for an hours entertainment
The one opposite game (showboat) is ok too, and yes they still have them 2 machines, there's a few too many OXO's in there for my liking though, plus it's owned by pikeys.
Are you from round this way ma71lda?
We usually end up with a free night out and a kitty for a chinese after which does me fine, i'm a fairly cautious player nowadays after being stung a few times in the past.alcozar wrote:Did you make anything on your Thursday Fruiter? Sounds like a crap selection of machines.
