Ok, picture this then lads.
back in 1999 when i was 14, near 10 year ago (sick how time flies) this was what most were wearing! NOT ME may i add!
HEAD GEAR - cotton wool type reebok cap that had like ear/face warmer bits either side that could velcro under your chin! hope you can remember these vile things.
TOP - stripey lacoste or henri lloyd type - normally black and white or multicolour.
TROUSER - lacoste trackies sometimes awful colours reds bright blues.
SOCKS - a pair of pringle socks diamond in pattern tucked quite high into the bottom of your lacoste trackies!
followed by
SHOES - a pair of Rockport boots
JEWELLERY - normally consisted of 1 maybe two soverigns and the fatest bracelet you could find. and for girls big huge round earings.
this dresscode went for both boys and girls! Think about it! picture it!
Jesus!
Chavs! or Jedi's as we call em round my way look half normal compared to back in my day.
how about a greasy pork sandwich served in a dirty ashtray.
forgot to mention, when wearing these clothes it was ritual they should be accompanied by a walk were one was to slighlty lean back and have stiff shoulders that would move back and forward in a robotic like fashion, not forgetting to have both hands down the front of your pants and constantly spitting or blowing bubbles?
LOL!

Stevie, I still see people dressed like that! :P
Circa 98/99, I too wore Rockports (Umbwe, to be precise). I had the black, the mahogany and the brown ones - at seperate times obviously, £149 a pop who dya think I am Rockafella?? They were worn with jeans along with a..............Sprayway!! And yes, it was worn properly - tucked underneath.
ops:
Those were the days when it was expensive being a chav......before the word chav was even invented.
