MPU5 fault - staus light flashes 2 red, 12 green - ideas?!

Post by chipydip »

Hi all,

I have a club vivid "circus circus" which is shouting 'hey check it out' on startup.

Of the 6 lights on the mpu5 board, the grouped 4 are all green, the halt light is off, but the status light flashes red x2, then green x 12.

There is nothing on any of the alpha displays.

Does anyone know what the fault is / what the status light indicates?

Alternatively, if anyone has a download link for an mpu5 service / fault / diagnostic manual, thats be great.

Thanks for reading.

Dan.

Thanks for the reply.

I actually have the Red Gaming equivalent of that guide (pretty sure its the same thing) but it doesnt go into any depth regarding errors, but just briefly covers them.

I managed to try a different psu on the machine today, one which def works ok, but the problem still remained.

When the machine is switched on, the status light on the mpu5 board, the reel board and the board controlling the buttons are all red for a fraction of a second. From then the staus on both the reel and button boards flash green, but the mpu5 board status light continues to cycle 2x red and 12x green.

Has anyone any ideas what the problem could be???

Thanks.

The various alarms, which can occur on the MPU5 system, are grouped into twelve classes (numbered 1 to C).

therefore ur error code should be 2c which is:-BATTERY FLAT 2C

If you're correct then thanks very much!

But....Battery Flat? - I didnt even realise fruit machines had batteries!?

Are you able to tell me where the flat battery is likely to be?!

Thanks again.

Ive just had a look and cannot spot anything on the mpu5 board, so opened the case on the game card, with no sign of a battery there either.

Also could not see one on the reel board or the one at the front controlling (i assume) the buttons.

Sorry to be a pain, but are you able to advise which board it should likely be on?

There are plenty of fuses, but then i guess thats irrelevent!

Thanks.

Found it - Thanks.

Is it normal for the battery to be soldered in, or should it be easy to remove?? Mines going to require some careful work to remove it without snapping it off the pcb :?

Lol.....they dont make things easy do they.

Knew i should have 'studied' electronics at school......i've never had to solder anything before.

Oh well, im guess ill be needing to buy a soldering iron with that new battery........perhaps im better off just buying a new mpu5 board!
