Was a bit annoyed today, I had VOLCANOLOGISTS but it was not in the dictionary of the game. It would have been easy to make VOLCANOLOGICAL as well. There was no U near so I couldn't try VULCANOLOG... etc.

Had to settle for Volcano.

This week was indeed a good one.

I posted the third-highest score ever. 8)

bravo. a nice 15 sirs.
does anyone else play WU in that pub? they must be pretty demoralised, might just as well set up a standing order to VB's bank account.

Cheers, UP.

It would be nice to get some money out of the machine, but unfortunately the requirement is forever hovering round 2000pts :(

I know that there is at least one other keen player in Colchester, called Ben (not 'Southend BEN'). He's got 1700s at Merton College, Oxford, but is not yet of VB-beating quality (no scores on the Colchester boards). :D

I finally got QUINTESSENTIALLY today. I must apologise to U.P. for using this immoral word, but, as EA Sports so eloquently puts it, "If it's in the game, it's in the game."

Being sad, I may now go and take a picture of it for posterity, in case the machine is reset or catches fire due to my raw excellence.

well quite Ernest. hold your head up high then hang it in shame. being a hypocrit, i occasionally play vulgar words like ADZ or GRAY if i'm setting up a whopper but i'd never sink so high as a 16-letter stonker
mind you i did eschew a possible QUINTESSENTIAL for a safe and more stylish QUINTESSENCE (carlisle arms soho) yesterday, had the ~LY been available i probably would have taken the points though (for shame).
it was a rather shabby evening as the only other scoring words i got were DRIZZLING (printer's devil fetter lane) and a couple of >1800 <1850.
consoled myself with £18 from a paragon i'd never seen before and a very iffy doner.

anyway i want a title shot, or will VB only put the belt on the line against punchbags and clowns like Fotherz

LET'S DO IT!

PM me for a clash some time next week (can't do Tuesday). Would prefer to play in Colchester (only 50 mins from London on the train), due to recent pecuniary haemorrhage.

Standard rules will apply: last leg winner starts subsequent leg; best of 7.

May the best bobber win! :D

whoever heard of a world title fight in colchester?
besides i'd hate for you to have to see GYÚJTSD at the top of the playhouse leaderboard every time you went to the pub.
have PM my promoter's requirements
oh and i'm not a bobber, merely a pretender to the ivory tower.

Sorry to break your lovely sparring there chaps, but get yourself up to the NE for some serious money making!

York is player free, and i've been in Harrogate and Knaresborough all day today. The highest score i could find in all the places i visited was 1200 (Winter Gardens [JDW], Harrogate). How piss poor can you get.... even i can do better than that most of the time. 1800-2000+ must get some princely returns, providing the machine hasn't been battered (which i doubt by the scores listed!)

In a quick break from revision, I hit a new high today on a completely different form of Word Up - finally displacing VBob from top spot on the all-time high scores of the Word Up game on this very website. Surely, though, it's a mere appetiser for the imminent post-exam ANGIE ANDY assault on the top of the proper Word Up rankings...
