yeah i know, when i posted that i thought nah it dont really rhyme ]

now im wondering if it was £2.40 ... ffs
The jackpot progression went 50p,£1,£2,£3,£4,£4.80,£6,£10,£15,£25,£35.

Would have paid out 10ps, not £1 coins, or possibly 50p's on certain manufacturers.
£1.50 also, played a few rat races that were on £1.50. £2.40 aswell. So many old Jpms were £2.40 (including the lite a nudge (Mk3) on 5p a go. Don't forget £5 jackpot etiher lol. How you missed that i'll never know :D

Plus nudge was my fav out of the series of 'double/nothing' machines :)

Showing my age here but I can remember

"all wins over £1 will be paid in tokens" on machines

I would love to have an old JPM nudge double up or lite a nudge, the original version , not the shitty remake

He's talking about max. prize @ max stake machines i think. £1.50 and £2.40 were cut down jackpots for lower stake machines were they not? Similar to £5.

So they don't really count.

Mattb wrote:Heh - depends if its the really old lite-a-nudge in the squashed cabinet (£2 cash).....or the new taller one (£2.40/£3 cash/£4.80 or £6 tokens). Same with EWN, they made 2 versions of this. I liked EWN more as the gambled from 20p could go 40p or 60p, and you always get more excited when it went 60p -> £1.20 -> £2.40! :D
F*ck, that takes me back, man ! :D 8)

Humm, not sure, i'll get me calculator out ;) Pretty certain about £1.50s, 100% on the £2.40.

i think the most satisfying jackpot, despite no music, was oldschool Bar x with like £1 for x's and £6 tokens for Bars. waiting all that time while it adds up the £6 , knowing it could hold 3 or 4 more times... was so intense.
i always used to help kids if i saw someone with invincible or on a feature u can get jackpot.. didnt need to shark anyone in those days. still dont but most arcades are so tight now, and with everyone else doing it.. its you or them i guess. but i still feel guilty for saying to a kid ' ill give you £5 for that feature right now ' when he had shizam on arabian nights.. and then getting £24 from crazy streak. he was only young.. i still bow my head in shame now ..

lol at the 10% taxing of tokens :D id take it if given but never really asked for it.

Folkestone used to be mad for me, doing test ya strength for myself on roller coaster when another person is shouting across the arcade '' addict come and do rollup rollup please!! '' , while another might be shouting for some help with setting up the Walterz feature for £15.20 ( we had a lot of roller coasters in folkestone, during the jpm season. must admit though, being nearly 26 and not playing as much like before, ma reflexes aint no where near the same now . did once do test ya strength with ma eyes closed, just cause someone dared .
when those jpm's died (roller, money talks.. etc etc..) like any other machine that is worth playing eventualy does .. a part of me died with them. :(

Jackpots went from £1 to £2 in about 1976, one of the first being JPM Each Way Shuffle. The next increase was from £2 to £3 in about 1983/4 with machines like nudges/exchanges unlimited (Barcrest). The £2.40 machines were all cash versions of £4.80 jackpot machines, I believe. it wasn't until machines were £10 payout that they dispensed with tokens.

dunno. unless ur reffering to other machines being £10 jackpot and then they brought out lower jkpt token machines. i remember maybe 10/15 years ago , cops n robbers 5p play £6 token jackpot.
and roller/money talks, a good 10-15 years ago, in my arcade, was £8 jkpt. but again i dunno exactly what your saying :)

oh no wait.. ur saying cash version of 4.80 machines.. sorry. 2 many beers.. jumped the gun.

Yes as I remember it, the big hoo har was all about the change from £8 tokens to £10 all cash jackpot. I think my 1st all cash jackpot came from a top tenner.

1st £10 jackpot for me - Viva Espagne. Nudge spinner feature in between England and Spain. Wow!
