What?! All money over the bar?! You serious? You never heard of a displacement activity, or do you think people got to pubs to literally do nothing but imbibe alcohol?!

Either way, £10 cycled thru a machine untill its gone will give the bar more profit that £10 on 4 pints.

And have you never picked one bar over another because its got a better machine?

And most decent bars rent out space in there bar to leisure link etc who in exchange get a cut of any profits, so effectivley get paid to have a machine. (no profit, bar is up, LL is down)

And if joe blogs is pissed out his mind, he can easily spend £50 on the machine before he could drink £20 more worth of booze.

And if someone just won £50 on the machine, they can afford to buy an extra round, buy that expensive malt, get the barman a drink, or put a few more quid back in.

And finally, if your point as quoted was the case, then why do so many bars have machines??

So you don't want people to give descriptive, detailed replies? That's ridiculous, especially when related to fruit info. The more you write, the more helpful you are being, especially so for newbies who seem to need stuff spelled out very clearly for them.

IMO, if you can't be bothered to read through the posts, then you don't really have a right to reply to them, as you don't know what the orginal person wrote!!!

It's a tricky one this.......

I've been barred from pubs, arcades and clubs all for winning fairly. I always have a pint in every pub I go to, I'm always polite I try to be careful when collecting banks. But surely in small pubs just ask for change even tho you don't need it. A couple of scores across the bar does wonders. If they think you've put at least forty in, then you won't get looked at!

A couple of months ago, myself and a two other players got held in a Gala for god sake. We changed back some coins and they wouldn't let us have our notes until they had audited the machines we had been playing on. The manager informed us the police had been called (in what I believe to be false or just an attempt to see if we would leave). I assured him all was above board and I WOULD stay and wait. Surprise surprise all was in order and we got our money and a half arsed apology. This was in a GALA for petes sake. An establishment designed for you to come in and gamble. Nothing worse than being treated like a criminal when you are not.

Same as arcades, get a few boards on the golden games close together and its 'your leaving'. Never mind the 80 it cost to get going.

The situation is getting rediculous. Small pubs are always likely to get you in trouble, so just give 'em what they want. Notes, 'proper' drinks and manners. It costs you nothing and earns you more.

In arcades now I nearly always walk in with just notes, it makes a HUGE difference. They crawl all over you with free drinks snacks promotions etc. On the other hand go in with bulging pockets and start getting stuck in with no words or manners, they don't take their eyes off you.

Whoops.......More than a few lines.....I'm sorry.

This is a very valid point.

How many average people would walk into a pub which has noteyless fruities and have enough loose change to force out a top WITHOUT asking for change?

Changing notes gives the barman a feeling of profit - even if you ultimately take a profit from the machine yourself. It may seem trivial but it helps keep the right impression with the landlord, and would probably not make him view you as someone who visits his establishment for the sole reason of wanting to rape his fruit machines.
This machine may at times offer a choice where the player has every chance of bankruptcy

It's extremely true and very unfortunate. PMK is bang on the money there it has to be done, but it's very annoying getting more bloody change that you don't need. Also if you ask for change with clearly bulging pockets - (s)he may think you're just taking the piss........sometimes you can't win.

This brings me onto my next topic of conversation.

"Well the police are taking their bloomin' time - what clothes should I wear?"

Put a suit on (a nice suit, not something yer mum has peiced together).

The difference is truly amazing.

"Good afternoon sir, what can i get you?"

Then when collecting the bank, instead of jealous looks and utter disgust, it's smiles and congratulations....
