what sort of wordlist doesn't have this in it? ah yes one with ZAX, QAT etc. ffs

the blow was softened by a workmanlike 15, two stylish 11s and 2089
and a pint which was so uncommonly good that i had another and £18 from PMP/GW?/TFD

guys, WU has gone which is a real pity.
the bastard child that is that soup thing should never have come to the throne. when it did, it sounded a knell as soon as it came in. It showed the providers what a huge gulf of talent there is bwn the top player (all 50 of him), the good players (i'd estimate 20 nationwide), the plucky stabbers (maybe 300) and the clowns who will play it for amusement (me).
before that, all players could enjoy the game at their own level. personally i couldn't give a toss about winning beer money; it is all about edification for me. and the odd beauty on EWQ's website.
WUGM was a complete disaster for everybody-1. it was ill-conceived and bastardized.
soup/GM has meant that it is far too easy to clear the grid with useless scrabble words which don't exist outside of irresponsible wordlists. i won't go on about this as you have heard it all before. but for those who know, is it any surprise that money is being recouperated? 20xx is a great effort and should be worth more than £1.
with soup, good players can (and will even for the modest returns) ace it really easily. this makes it unplayable for the drippy couple and Signor Bob, nobody is a winner.
if the profiteering numbnuts at LL could admit a mistake and fanfare a triumphant return of Word Up (with the proper dictionary) it might stand a chance with appropriate frontscreen marketing. as it is, they have lost the longest-serving (and you'd assume most profitable) game on their menu.
you can polish a turd like WWTBAM with new questions and a stupid, slow interface but it is the behaviour of a cretin to try to gild a lily.
