exactly what I just said above- if you only play ones red from the start you won't end up playing them at all (well apart from once in a blue moon)!

upto you if you want to play it safe, but imo it's worth going for em if they are full, take the risk that it will go red within £60 and hopefully you will then make. I know they are usually refill, but if you don't know when it was last done, I'd take it on regardless on one proviso - the rest of the area wasn't stone.

Once in a red moon, surely...? ;)

Played the one in Gravesend early yesterday, £30 in for a £70 toppola! ;) My pal was playing the Carribean Cash in the same pub and managed to 'trip' it into giving the IM (I know it can't be fooled, but it feels like you've wedged it into a corner with those no-loses and extra lives... ;) )

No empty, pubs get lazy with refills over weekend. It's down to the bone, balance 100 and some forceyfruitdozer bashes a wodj of notes into it and reverse gambles it (tounge in cheek) to the top. Streaks it, takes out value and it empties. Obviously a local player, that's why all done within a small range. Have they been switched off in the services yet? No.

There is no emptier for Vortex.

Its just more and more people are using notes. Went to a pub thats got vortex & on a roll. Notey was off on OAR but 2 birds where on Vortex. Had a few quid in OAR to see if the notey was broke but it was dead and after £8 in the notey came back on. It tricked me with a random £10 on nudges so cut my losses at £25. Now waiting for the 2 gals to finish on Vortex a lad puts £10 note in plus change and loses. Another bloke puts several coins then £60 in notes and collects on £25 plus £20 odd in safe cash. puts £10 back in then walks. Now notey is off again but I knew it was close to going again. Cost me £50 to get a £35 then £70 top so I left it virtually empty. Also got a £70 top off vortex which switxhed the notey off too.

If some of you are not touching Vortex unless it reds your mising out on a lot of profit. This has been a big earner for me. I've had 5 to do at 1 point and only 1 location has been a let down. Only twice has it cost £100+ for a top and i'd say thats in about 40 forces. This will give the top via filling the word Vortex without redding. My worst result on this is £50 down but compared to how much I've made on these I'm more than happy with them.

I'd rather play something I was 99pc sure I was going to make a profit on.

It just means you have to try more machines and then when you do find one showing you make £50+ profit.

But that £50+ profit would surely have been wiped out already from the countless non-red machines you'd 'tried' - considering boards can cost upwards of a £5 easily... :?

Fair enough - I've done that a couple of times and I'd say that on Vortex you should be able to get £5 from 'most' boards if you get over to the cash side.

You could in theory say that about any red though, as any board can be £1-£5 (unless you've totally smashed the hell out of it and it blocks at £4 for a bit). I agree if you only chase reds that are there when you walk on you'd be playing nothing. I mean for example i'll chase an invincible thats through £5 and not red as long as its not miles off full. OARs at £7/£10 stage are often all green still too, but you can still do say £40 for £70 off these. 8)
