The Bank
The Bank
Right, all of us have bank accounts yeah? Well i went over my overdraft limit by a wee sum! Anyway i get a call at 10:27 this morning by some cow saying " you are due the BOS £xxxx can you pay it today"
Errrrrr no she replies "why not?" It's a sunday maybe......
And then she went on a rant saying how she couldnt understand me/hear me! I said to her its fucking half 10 in the moring! You have woken me up demanding money off me !
Banks are cunts full stop once this is all paid off I'm just going to close my account with them. There nice enough to give you that little overdraft but the second you go over it the are rude bastards
anyway rant over :x

I have a visa card thats by the same bank i use.
I ring up to pay over the phone. Can i pay £10 off my visa please.
Yes it will take 4 working days. Wtf??? Its the same bank for gods sake.
Anyway it was a day late and they charge me £25. Robbing c**ts.
I am going to pay it off and change banks. I know its not a lot of money but its the principle

had MORE than my fair share of experiences in this situation..
firsty banks are not you friend, people assume this, they are a BUSINESS, the same as any other an thier job is to make money.
ive threatened to close accounts at a couple of bansk but unless the amount is a small one they know you wont be able to pay it off so they will just say go for it mate..
the charges ARE a disgrace...i pay my rent through DD and last month it was due to go out...at the same time so was my phone bill.. the say its due to go out it hasnt and i thought thats strange as all my house mates money has..leave it a week (hoping the LL dosent come after me :P ) and still nothing...i go into the bank and see whats going on....YOUR ACCOUNT WAS SHORT....umm hold on....my rent is £851 per 1/4 and i KNOW the moneys in there as i went and paid it in....YOU ARE £4 short..
WHAT THE FUCK......
£4 short and you wont honour it? i coudldnt believe it...had to then pay £30 charge for the DD not being completed on time...
needless to say end of next year that account it closed.
BY FAR THE BEST BANK ive dealt with has to to HSBC.
my student account had a OD limit of £1250 and ive been up to £1500 OD before with not a hint of a charge.just a polite call asking if it was possible to bring within its limit..say youre waiting for pay day or student loan and problem over.
dont trust banks as far as i could throw them and at the end of the day WE will never win...just try to stick to what they are saying and never take a positive thing to well as they are bound to change it round to fuck you :P

Best advice I can give is:
- Make sure your DD's come out on or one day after your payday. (So long as your employer is good when it comes to paying on time!)
- If you don't need it, don't get an OD limit. You WILL use it, and before you know it, every month you've eaten into your OD, and your wages only bring it back up to almost being in the black.
- I've got the most basic 'no frills' account going with the Halifax, I always know where I stand with it, which suits me just fine.
Other points:
Is it even possible to speak to a human being in a bank nowadays? Long gone are the 'Dads Army' days of the bank manager being your friend, and deciding whether to loan you money based on how he knows you. We're all just a number on a server somewhere that no-one who works at the bank gives a flying at a rolling about!
Moan Over! LOL

"And do you ever contradict yourself, Minister?" "Well, yes and no..."
The £30 charge they issue when you exceed your overdraft will hopefully be abolished or significantly reduced. Some guy took them to court over it as he racked up a few hundred/thousand pounds worth of charges over the years. His argument was that the charges were not proportional to the costs the bank incurred by him exceeding his overdraft, the bank made him a very tidy offer out of court to drop the case, so I'd imagine things will change at somepoint.

Thing is you can't really change banks as they all do it!
One thing that was a bit annoying though not really the banks fault as such, i paid some of my holiday off the day i got paid and thought it would go out straight away (usually does i have been paying for the last 3 months). Anyway i didn't really check my balance and just carried on spending until i ran out
I then got my statement the other day and out they took £200 when i only had £50 left and whacked on two charges of £35. One for card missuse and one for going overdrawn???? Going to ring them later and see if they can take at least one of them away.
