Number Runner

Post by wake_up_1980 »

Anyone care to explain what this number runner is? Seen a fair few people talk about it on here but i haven't a clue what it is. Cheers.

Its a good bonus because it always means a feature! its on all red machines and some other makes the reels just step doiwn until you have enough numbers to be in the trail. thats it really, theres definately nothign special about it. and if there was, and I told you, I'd probably have to kill you afterwards.

Ignore that reply above.....

It's the best bonus on reds. Only usually offers it when its absolutely flying! Basically you can hold and step the reels of your choice to bring in or set up a big win. You can usually get blue/red sevens (or near as damn it) on most reds, or set up enough fruit steps to bring it in on others. When its offering NR, most of the time you can be confident pot will soon follow. Not every time, but it sure is a good sign of readiness.

I think the oak was trying to keep competition to a minimum.

Be chipped out within a year now.

It won't be chipped out lads, as it's an intended part of the bonus. It's just not 'advertised' as such. Plus, Players Heaven 'Supertips' also give you a pretty big clue on what's possible with NR...

I remember doing 'Nudge Steppa' back in the JPM Caesars / Hot Shot / Impulse days. There were more numbers / mystery wins to avoid in those days, but you also had the offer of stepping up or down, unlike Reds which only offer the 'down' variety...

:D never mind Oak, nice try!

Mattb - You are too generous, although trying to explain the benefits of Number runner to a novice can be tricky, my mates have watched me do it a hundred times and they still can't get he grips of it if they're on their own.

Will anyone else admit to slipping up occasionally with it aswell? I must admit ive inadvertently held down a single number to bollocks it all up and end up with one nudge before.

nah! I would never hold a number, but im sure I have ballsed it up at some point. Yeah, the old JPM ones were wicked, and more skillful with the option of both directions and lots of mystery boxes as you mentioned. good reel knowledge was useful for hidden features too.

Too many times I have dropped small wins onto the winline, like GM's, apples or mixed sevens just because I'm so intent on getting reds or blues. Just not concentrating...

Yeah i've not noticed gm's before but the biggest bastard is when u need to let 1,2, or all 3 at once go and it doesn't do it. Argh....!

Even harder when on ur own and u need to hold the middle and let the 2 side reels go together.

Oh and whoever asked the question be careful playing on machines when u play mega spin as any number will get u on the board...

Still skillful though as u can work out the nudges but u need knowledge of the reels to make full use i.e. where the 7's are.

yeah i asked that question! I swear no one answered it! Jewel in the crown for example has mega spins but only twelve nudges! fair enough on the ones that have 99 nudges, in which case you can just go for the nudges on mega spins.

Apparently, on 50p invincibles, the 2-4-3 on NR
can actually get the MS with it being double numbers....
Anybody actually achieved this?

Can't see it, on first lot of grub-a-dub-dub's you could, but doubt they would make this mistake again, plus you would need over 99 nudges lol

Yes Cros, but if u work it out, there is actually
enough numbers there 2 achieve it, although
never come across this situation yet, maybe
1 reel will stick, which i suspect everybody
has encountered :x

It does 'cap out' at 99 nudges unfortunately - agree that there's definitely enough numbers, but it won't go up to the top... :(
