That's the thing mate.....you don't get much of a say in the matter i'm afraid :?

It's also the same people who moan about things like the NHS being cack, forgetting the fact they pay no tax or national insurance.

I don't feel guilty as i have probably paid more into the system over the years than most correspondents. What do you want me to do? Declare my winnings from the f***ing fruit machine. The DSS would think it was some kind of joke and send me away sniggering behind my back thinking "Whos this joker?" When I have enough money to do other things, the taxman will get a share of it ONE WAY OR ANOTHER! over the coming years.

At the end of the day, according to our government " I am playing a game of chance (78%payout approximately)". This is my legal right.
I am not breaking the law. Please show me any evidence from the Dept for Work and Pensions you have to declare any small wins on a gaming machine???

I see no sign on a machine stating "People in receipt of state benefits must not play this machine"

I see no sign saying "If in receipt of state benefits, all winnings must be declared and form IB99 submitted."

Hi Jeff,

When I said about using Benefits to gamble, I didn't state that it was against the law, it just seems 'wrong' to me that you are being 'aided' by a system that is contributed to by the majority of hard working people in this country, and then you gamble with it.

It's just my view, as I've never claimed a penny in any way shape or form, and my income tax/NI payments on a monthly basis are around the £700 mark! If they could halve the number of people claiming (and the government had an ounce of sensibility) that figure could at least be dropped by a few hundred...

It is a system that exploits the hard working taxpayer and it is a system that can be exploited. If I was'nt claiming it, someone else would.
The government waste billions on the war in Iraq, Beurocracy in the NhS,
Local government hare-brained schemes, the list is endless.

If the government said one day "Right, no more benefit money but you will be paid in food vouchers, electricity credits etc.", I would not complain. Anyway, on another political note, it is harder to find a menial job or "gateway" job in most towns and cities nowadays as all agency work and seasonal work is generally offered to eastern european migrant workers who of course benefit from the National Minimum wage as they can send some of their wages back to their homeland which will be of higher value over there.
With fuel prices and the cost of living at record levels and not being committed enough to do some kind of study to further my "so called career" I find that slotting for profit is my best option. Anyone who works for minimum wage realise you are a slave to the system for 40 hours a week minimum. Overtime compulsory if you want to enjoy a few nights out.

An idea is to maybe start a business with the proceeds, so as i have said before, the government will receive taxes from me in my lifetime one way or another.

There could be an infinite number of points to argue on this matter.

Some of those comments beggar belief really. Why should you get money for nowt, when you are quite blatantly not even bothering to look for work.

If i wasn't, someone else would.....its those sort of comments that bring this country down :( :x

it's rather beyond the point as noone will be able to last it with machines that much longer these days, there is simply too many players, even alot of mugs know stuff like playing reds when they show etc...

I've been playing for 10 years, and its ridiculous the actual level of players now compared to before, and you know what they say...

£13.83 a day, thats all thats needed to be better off than a full-time worker.
most pros doing £50 a day without breaking sweat.

Unless everything becomes random, still Ok for a year or 2 yet.

even if that is more than what an average player earns on average a day, i still think that 13.83 is still not enough to live. Remember you get paid in bulks so when it is pay day you have enough money to pay off debts, food, on the kids. Gambling isn't a sufficent and consistent form of income. To the present day it might well be, but i can't see it being like that in the future.

Also have you ever thought what you kids are going to think or how people percieve you being a pro gambler? Its nothing to 'big up' now is it?

Yeah you might being doing well atm, but gambling gives you no career prospects, it comes with no pension and it certaintly isn't something to be written on a CV etc as experience. (Reference 1 is from TAW and reference 2 is from VIU!!!!)

It is no form of a living, maybe for the younger age group but not for an adult! Theres bigger and better things in life mate. :D

My opinion anyways.
