What games have/haven't been jackpotted?

As of today I can proudly add Caveman Capers to the list of games jackpotted - it was in "paying" mode (prizes from 1200 points at regular narrow intervals onwards) and I managed to retain a try again throughout which meant I could afford to guess each question, and managed to do so successfully on each occasion. Disappointingly, no nice animations etc. on winning the £20.
I was also one question away from the jackpot on Who Wants To Win A Tenner?, so I suspect this is fairly JPable as well. In fact, I had a try again left but contrived to pick two wrong answers, so had to make do with £5.
I think ZAX has been lucky with Pub Quiz - I play this a fair amount and the nearest I've got is within one question of jackpot - normally I find it throws in hard questions pretty early on.

Like Zax I've also JP'd Pub Quiz twice - both times in the same pub and suspect attributable to a couple of the loser regulars stuffing it full of cash rather than luck/my own brilliance. As I recall all the qs were theoretically knowable (the final q on one of the games was 'where did Edgar Allan Poe die ?' which I admittedly guessed but is not a spoiler in strict sense I'd say).
I'd agree. In my observations the clever thing about Pub Quiz is that few of the questions are spoilers in the strict sense, but it has enough genuinely tough questions to make JPing it a real challenge, even given that it has protected prizes at each level. I think it's a pretty good game actually, which with better graphics and ideally a TV tie-in, could have done really well.jonesey wrote:Like Zax I've also JP'd Pub Quiz twice - both times in the same pub and suspect attributable to a couple of the loser regulars stuffing it full of cash rather than luck/my own brilliance. i notice that lately the paragonbashers seem have been quelled.
i won £7 then £4 off that easy card game after work yesterday as well as £7 from C&R, £5 (bullseye) from japseye and the normal mopping up on word games. no pots but an equivalent smash and grab of a twit box would have taken (me at any rate) much longer and would have been immeasurably less edifying.

nobody ever wins on those things.
I accept that it really does vary from pub to pub, and that you may indeed know of some pubs where the Paragons are good payers, but if I you do want someone to bash a Paragon, I'm happy to oblige! I played one in a pub in Oxford only last night and it was (as I always find with Paragons) complete dross. Admittedly I don't play all the games, but that's the case for all of us. Of the games I played last night:unknownpseudonym wrote:i notice that lately the paragonbashers seem have been quelled.
Cops and Robbers - 200+ moves for £1, no sign of the three keys, killed by spoilers
Trivial Pursuit - a good game on Gamesnets but it is almost always empty on Paragons, as was the case last night
Top Secret - won £1 but a very average game overall
Moneycomb - won £1 on the first 'comb' but then the second comb was rubbish - only two drops of honey to find. When this was on Gamesnets it was always good for £3 to £5
Golden Balls (or whatever it's called - the True/False football game) - completely empty
Word Up - 1100 points for £1, so not really much use for an amateur like me, although I accept that this relies entirely on what has been won before
As I've said, you may be lucky enough to know of pubs where there's money in Paragons but I consistently find them to be all but unplayable so I'm happy to give them a BIG thumbs down!
A bit of ignorance here
What is the jackpot on the 'Nuts' magazine game? Is it £20?
Re: A bit of ignorance here
Theoretically it probably is - four lots of £5 on the Covers for Cash. However as I haven't ever completed all four covers I can't confirm whether the game stops there, as of course it never actually offers you four lots of £5 - it's normally something like two lots of £1/£2 and two lots of £3/£4.davey boy wrote:What is the jackpot on the 'Nuts' magazine game? I was playing it yesterday without concentrating on what I was doing and it gave me four covers totalling £10 in prizes. It just made me think about the game's potential. Ah well. Obviously a lucky punt.Nil Satis wrote:Theoretically it probably is - four lots of £5 on the Covers for Cash. Almost certainly a lucky punt as you say. Initially I found this one a reliable source of a few quid (£3 to £4) but even that seems harder to get nowadays - the non-question rounds seem to get harder quite early on, including the pièce de résistance - the 'I Spy' Picture Puzzle game where one or even two of the pieces to spot are simply an extract from the monochrome background to the main photo and all you can do is randomly pick locations from there and hope for the best. It's far fairer when you are asked to spot the top left corner of the young lady's breast...
Can I just clarify with the other posters on here then. are they collectively saying for example that the following games have never been jp'd by ANYBODY..
Hex Appeal
Cryptic Clues
Buzzle
Itbox soccer quiz
Monopoly
Cluedo
Battleships
Monkey Business
Mouse Trap
TV Times
Text Tiles
Scratch and Match
Sure theres a zillion others, but I am trying to recall most of current itbox choices off the top of my head. Its just, I accept that in general I wont jp games myself cos I only play for recreation and entertainment and winning mighty quids here and there, but I always imagined there were people out there who were jping the games on a regular basis cos they were putting in the time etc. Or are people being a bit bashful about the games they are caning in case the wrong people are reading these threads?!
