Nice guess! But total bollocks.
First clue: they finished runners-up in the FA cup twice in the 1880s, but have never won the competition.

I'm not well up on the FA cup, but surely Liverpool have won it at least once?
The FA cup thing was a bit of a red herring anyway.
Here's another clue - they're an amateur team.
