When a programmer/inventer patents a product, the patent applies to the patent holder (ie. the individual, NOT the company.)

So if a patent holder switches allegance, you may find patented items appear elsewhere. ie. On other companies machines.

Maybe the hopper was just full? Put £1 in get £2 out. Needs another £2 in for it to be full again!

It could well be fake backing but it doesn't mean a lot if its a red or you don't know what day refil day is.

This has been said before but i reckon its how MOST machines behave that have note acceptors.

Here goes.Full machine, you put say £20 into it, it all goes down the cashbox,You win say £30.You keep the money in the bank and insert say £5 coins. These coins will go in the hopper.Dont ask me why they just do !
After collecting the £30 turn your refill key and it will say refill x £25.

Mainly seen this on Barcrest machines ( Space raiders and wobbler does this)

its just too keep a high float, that machine is taking the coins in the hopper to make up the bank you have, to keep the hopper nice and full. you will generally find machines a lot less off than they should be, because the machine has been making up the hopper balance ever since your first win.

I would not consider the first drop fake or anything like that.

although the hoppers hold either 125 or 250 on awps, they are big enough for loads more, just the machines dont really need it, so, for security due to fraud they are made to drop the money into the secure boxes in teh bottom of the machine

if the machine isnt floated with the full £250 or £125 before the top up's each day week or however long, the person who is filling it needs to tell the machine how much they have added or taken out or whatever... if they dont then the machine miscalculates how much is there and the only way to correct it is to do a full hopper dump and then reset the machines own over or undercount..

its difficult to explain but basicly, the person who filled it up last, cocked up

it happens a lot as some of the people that come around on the refils dont care some dont know what they are doing, and some skim a couple of coins after the full float and it cocks up that way

ever got a 20p instead of a £1? wondered how so many coins come out but dont go back in? mainly its dodgy operators (not the actual company, but the person who actually get to put the money into the machine...)

also, if the hopper jams and the machine just gets flicked on and off a couple of time to clear it, sometimes it will miss part of that pay out cycle ( usually 2 or 3 coins at a time), sometimes when you put a coin in and it doesnt get counted? or when you're playing a bellfruit and the stupid pipes skim off a coin or two on a heavy payout,

these all make the hopper levels go screwy.. all very common but only niticable when you are playing the machine when it thinks it has a full hopper... it can drop through and key at full for ages then just suddenly start taking coins or you could drop £75 out and it still think its full...

nothing suprises me like this anymore... maybe the top-up/ collecting staff need a re-training leisure link?>

as far as i know fake backing was only on the red gaming machines from nitro and up to around the time of stink king rich and ufo/invaders or whatever it was called... none of the newer ones seem to do it,

i might be wrong but thats just from the ones ive played

Seems a fair explanation 8)

The new ones do still do it, and other manus are getting in on the act as well. I think some of the new maygay machines fake back too. About time they put a stop to it really, misleading to the limit. Luckily us lot know all about it, but what about joe public!

matt, i think you.ll find that the real joe public dont even know what that noise is when the money hits the floor...

people who are aware of it usually have the brains to look for more clues as to when the machine pay out, and them most of those people look on the internet and find this site!!!
