opt fault reel 3

I have just got a global who wants to be a millionhare machine. The machine initialises ok when switchef on but when you play it, the 3rd reel doesn't always spin, it just shudders or does part of a spin. Then quite regularly it all stops and the display reads"opt fsult reel 3". I swapped the wiring for reel 3 and 4 on the reel control circuit board over and reel 4 shudders instead. Anyone got any idea what might be wrong?

something wrong with reel 3!

clean the opto, look for anything trapping the reel like bulbs, bulb loom..

spin it unplugged see if it spins freely or feels jammed

I have used pcb cleaner on all the boards and checked for any wires etc that might be causing it to get caught, there is nothing that I can see, the reel when spun by hand spins freely
its not the reel itself as I stated before, when I swap reel 3's wiring with reel 4's, reel 4 then has the fault and reel 3 is fine

next step is to look at connections on the board, see it one is loose.

i am unsure which machine it is, what board is in it?

Which board do you mean? The reel board or the mpu

Its an epoch mpu board
