The bigger the jackpot to stake ratio increased, the worse the gameplay is. 24:1 was the best in my opinion and even on £4.80/20p you could still get £30 out of some. If you scaled that up, you have a £25 jackpot for £1 a play and still theoretically get £150.

fuck the game play, its never been better for winning volume now we have £1/70, clears out all the chancers and if anything gives a good advantage to those who are prepared to get involved.

if the machines are boring the casual player isn't going to fill them up.

I understand what your point about fun to play is, but if I wanted machine that are fun to play i'd tend to go to arcades with them in, rather than visit pubs that i'd never otherwise set foot in.

DOND machines/deal concept has been the most popular machine design ever!

things like collect on mystery, cash or bust seem to be popular with causals also.

if ever my fav machine type where those with 3 trails, nudge/cash/features, fruit steps in reds case... JPM(arcadia, hi impact, DYFL) Ace(hotshot, ceasers place, kung fu), and Reds(red x, rampage, UFO)

i'd say Red gaming put together all the best bits, since it was ex JPM workers that created them it makes sense... it was £15/25 jackpots, skill features, chance of big tops.

Barcrest produced the best machine of that type for reliable streaks, global maygay and bellfruit where either dead or a run in £100+

Many of the machines back then, yes where more fun to play, but you could never win a £100s like you could today... even if you hit a half decent run of ready units the average win was a lot smaller, does go to say your loss was pretty much capped to a few quid to find ou tit was not in the mood.

Machines just are not profitable to site in quiet PH locations these days.

The days are gone and they will never be back.

I'd still like to seen a Emulation of Red gamin machines, I'd be happy to pay for it with all the games/stakes that was produced since the start till a couple of years ago... even up £100 i'd think it was good value for the amount of time i'd spend playing it on a computer.

I stopped 'liking' playing machines I know nothing about from the moment I turned 'professional' and started going on routes with my competition. I used to low to play Temple of Treasure and King Kebab all out - used to love that red Temple of Treasure feature being lit up and giving the £75.

You'll never see me playing a fruit machine 'for fun' or leisure. This is probably why I'm not so clued up on new stuff these days...

the only way things could change ( and this is impossible lol , , ,,,but) is , , if bellfruit were to go bankrupt over some investment deal or other,

if their dominance was removed , it would leave a huge gap in the market for smaller companies to maybe get involved and take a few risks with novel gaming ideas

sadly,,,,, never gonna happen

Well, Reflex machines have suddenly turned up left right and centre. They've just stuck with the standard DOND format.

Even Jpm Al Murray crap is a DOND. Didn't realise getting the barrels red wasn't GATW.

What does it do then? I assumed it was GATW too, only ever had a couple of boards on these.

And on the topic of clones people often say Bellfruit do clone after clone after clone. I disagree with this. Obv there's been some clones out there, BRT/Gold, LTD/DID etc. But usually I find there's enough differences between different DOND machines to provide a different gameplay experience. Whether it's multi-tiered boards, cob/dob, different profile, cashpots, etc.

Whereas atm we have Reflex who to my knowledge have released essentially the same machine in 4 different wrappers, which in themselves are just a copy of what Bellfruit did years previously.

Barcrest had a few different approaches out there, but mainly towards the end they just cloned TIOLI and Crazy Trails. Dublin Yer Money/Dublin Up were a bit more interesting I thought.

In the end times Red just released clone after clone of Hot Hot Hot or Devil of a Deal.

And the JPM games are just dire.

Essentially my point is if you were to walk into a pub that had 4 Bellfruits then although they'd likely all be DONDs they'll all probably play sufficiently differently to each other. If you walked into a pub with 4 from any of the rest of them then you'd most likely be running into clones.

Suspect its a £70 box Scott, but not a mega. Only played it once and it took nearly £180 to give that.

not they do clone after clone, they DID do clone after clone... Now its just everything has to have a deal game. Why? Because they are so popular.
