Interesting table Ernest (especially as ANGIE ANDY are pretty well represented!) - would be good to see this kept updated from time to time.

What K- words would qualify for the website? KNICKERBOCKER? KNOWLEDGABLY I guess...many more?

good work on the list Ernest, do you never sleep?
i plan to get a W~ soon and a brief consultation of my dictionary (OED) suggests XENOTRANSPLANTATION for 19.

given that VAG/JINALBOB can be as many as four people he/they should have to get four of each letter ;)

I've been in a bit of a rut of form recently, but things improved a bit today with a bizarre jackpot at 1150-odd...

The £1 mark was at 675 with subsequent increments every 75 or so points and I just kept cruising through them waiting to collect once the next prize went up towards 1750 as it usually does at some stage. However, the 75 point interval just kept going all the way to the jackpot.

It did get a bit tense as in all the excitement I managed to lose shape completely and end with a huge 15-tile L, with one word required for the £10 but Help already used. There was nothing on pre-shuffle and then post-shuffle, with about 2 seconds left, I noticed that one legit word was available - ITS, which got me to the jackpot by the odd point!

Only two entries for the website have recently been got - another DEMONICALLY (330/11) , this time in Bar Radio, Glasgow, and today a website debut for CLASSICALLY (352/11) from Yates', Glasgow. Still outperforming the anonymous ANDY though!

Top bottling. The machine must have reached maximum tightness, and have been unable to give away the odd quid to jokers.

Had a brief session today. Best score 1978, scoringest word the boring Q-ALLY. Also got the more stylish BASTARDIZES, VIOLINISTS, AARDVARKS.

One of the Peterhouse clan had got Razzmatazz (unluckily for him, only 3rd on his board since Bob and I had already shat on his doorstep), so there is some potential, but when I was there today, I was almost heralded as the new messiah for being able to filth out a 1700ish.

BTW an irritating Paragon bug on Haunted Hangman: I was midway through the first clue, which was worth £2, when I chose a sport question, the screen went black for a few seconds, and then I was back at the front "choose a game" screen, minus 50p. Anyone else had this?

Having nearly given up WU following UP's aliens, managed EXTORTIONATELY today. Had I had the sense to keep going rather than collecting a mere £1, I could have extended my best score to somewhere more respectably north of 1800 ...

Ernest, the old bug was that HHH would take 50p to load the game then crash immediately costing you a credit. never seen it in the middle/early stage of the game though. especially not in the last couple of years.

on a similar note when spelvin was paying my mortgage, after JPing the first game the second game would crash as soon as i got to £4 (every time).
can you smell fish?

Jonesey, good work with EXTORTIONATELY i believe that is a new entry for damtp... imo the longest words board is the purest form of excellence at WU, length before points. i'm happy to play QUA, ZIP, POX, JAM if an 11+ is likely. each to their own.

I hit a new personal high point today, giving a UK debut to the monstrous QUIXOTICALLY (552/12) in Bar Radio, Glasgow.

QUIX was pretty much there from he start on the far left of the grid and there were good -ICALLY prospects in the centre so I tried for a few different -ICALLYs while keeping the QUIX in case the two parts ended up close together and lo and behold they did.

Sadly this took up almost all the time so despite some frantic stabbing, the game ended at 1301 with what felt like the best part of half the letters remaining!

Ernest, surely you have to agree it's a lot more satisfactory than the QUIZZICALLY or TRANQwhatever you were imploring me to get? And unknown, despite its relative modest length, surely this meets with your wholehearted approval?

I deny imploring, I merely pointed out my surprise that you hadn't popped your QUIZ/TRANQ cherry yet. The words are not particularly joyous themselves after the umpteenth time, but boost chances of a massive score on clearing. I

I also refute that you were refusing to make these particular words on style grounds, given the various QUIZZERS, QUIZZING, etc you've had. I'm not being critical, just saying it was odd.

Of course I agree that the likes of EXTORTIONATELY and EXTRATERRESTRIALS are much better than filth like TRANQ/QUIZ, but the latter are better than nothing on games where you aren't firing well

The argument that I'd refuse to make TRANQ/QUIZZ words on style ground was half-hearted at best! I'd be all over a QUIZZICALLY like a rash, but there's no doubt I enjoyed today's word more than I would ever enjoy it or TRANQ+.

And as for receiving a 'superb' from VBob himself - it things like that which make you feel that all the hours and hundreds of pounds spent on the game have been worth every penny! (which of course they have...)[/quote]
