it's not so important to add machines to a running total , for the final take home score

but it is crucial to count during play of the individual unit .

for example , if your only 30 involved on a mist , and a rat catcher present's itself , you may decide to take it for the quick 40 raise , and leave the cp for the next visit in two days.

however if your 60 in ,,,,,,,, your more inclined to want it all.

how can you possibly make those type of decision's without knowing how deep you are .???
Little discipline = BIG issue

£1 in the left pocket for every £10 that goes into the machine. Collect out the final bank and compare to the amount of coins in left pocket. Make note of p/l on phone.

Easy.

Guess i do count then, a rough count, but its not an active process in my head or otherwise. Unless necessary, aliens etc.

However if you think about it, I'm sure there will be a lot more scenarios where counting doesn't matter than when it does, and very few where an accurate count is needed.

Well I'm not even keeping a count really, I just generally know how much I'm into without thinking about it. For example I will play a machine without thinking about keeping count then just know I'm 40-50 into it let's say.

And lee surely you should be making decisions that would be +ev in the long term? Not just something that would suit the situation your in at the moment.

And why an earth would you keep track on your phone how much you put in the machine etc, just don't how that would be making you any more money than not doing it.

I do count most times, but I'm not a stickler for it. I agree with Trayflop about how it affects decisions on certain machines, sometimes I'll bail with a small profit and go back the next day rather than try all out for everything. Ltds are a good example for this, if I go £40 in for phones and I have a chance first phone board, unless there are signs that other things are imminent!! I'll normally take it and head off, They'll have been times when no doubt thats cost me but on the flip side they'll have been plenty of times when its saved me. If its £100+ in for phones then I'm not even thinking of taking it! So as Iconhop says its important to know such things!

Stuff like mists/megas I'll normally look for a small raise unless of course there are very tempting alternatives.

I know what I start the day with and always count up when I'm done, but I think if youve been doing this for a while you have a natural ability to realise within a tenner/score each way to know roughly where you stand all throughout the day.

Most of my evening sessions are combined with getting on it and getting a kebab and cab home at the end of the night. So when I get home, if I can count I will!

Seen people use those clickers that bouncers use to tell how many punters are in the clubs.

Are numeracy skills in this country really that bad?

I always start the day with the same amount and keep an accurate count in each machine, 10 at a time is easy to keep track of. I have kept detailed stats in the past but decided it wasn't actually worth the effort, it shouldn't tell you anything you don't already know. E.g. Believe it or not, an average result on DOND gold is expected to be a loss!
