Because that is what most people prefer. I would ban litres altogether. I get fed up of shops selling milk in 1 litre containers and charging the same as 2 pints.

Petrol companies only started pricing in litres because it was confusing and softened customer resistance to price increases.

You can save fuel by getting a lot of different things just right. Correct tyre pressures, a clean air filter and not accelerating fast will help to reduce the fuel consumption. The most obvious one is keep to the speed limits and keep to a constant speed on dual carriageways and motorways. In the Summer, roll down the windows and feel the breeze rather than having the air conditioning on all the time.

Or you could get stuck behind a lorry and let it tow you along. Saves massive this method!

Read somewhere it makes no difference, if not makes it worse. The air flow then goes completely and the car works harder to maintain it's speed.

I drive a 99 a3 1.9 tdi and u wont get 50 mpg unless ur going eco, and even still its a push. Red diesel for a player is well worth it, considering the millage most of us do. If u get caught its a £500 fine, but sure take that outa the nearest rocky, keep it close by and by the time u get caught youll have saved thousands or in my case prob £499.80 down. Better still, the cooking oils on offer at tescos atm lol
