Why would a new company want to get in on the AWP market? There has been many threads regarding 'the end is nigh', this is a big step in that direction. You guys could end up having to endure these Triple 7 machines in pubs, in the none too distant future.

Don't think that is an option with the triple 7 cabs,the amount of cash these can take without a sniff of a jackpot is unreal.we all know they can pay big but who's gonna go round testing the waters.

Couldn't agree with you more. 15 or so years back I used to go round making good money but there was always that nagging feeling that I should be doing something better with my life, and that I was wasting the good education I had. I always avoided telling people what I did for a living not just because I didn't want people to know there was money in it, but because I wasn't particularly proud of it and was scared of disapproving reactions. I never signed on and I even paid my own National Insurance contributions because I didn't want to fall behind.

Now you've got armies of tracksuited wankers touring the country who are proud of how they make a living and will spill their guts to anyone who cares to listen. It's seen as a badge of honour. I will always blame Vivid Games for breeding this type of player. Their games required absolutely no skill at all.

Yes you could add emulation to that list as well as other things like higher stakes and jackpots, internet gaming and so on. The industry itself is partly to blame. It's funny but 17 years back the sound of a £6 token jackpot being paid out by a solenoid / payslide / tube assembly used to turn heads, and it happened a lot. All those little moments where any sort of player could bask in the glory of a 10 second jackpot tune followed by 30 thumping sounds as the tokens came out. It certainly was amusement and if anyone was on a losing run they could never really put their savings on the line like they can now. Nowadays with quiet hopper payouts and even note recyclers you could collect a monkey out and no-one would notice, and the players are like zombies - a £500 touch is a squirt of piss in the ocean compared to what they've lost in recent years, and arcades are soulless joy-vacuums as a result. The industry has lost its way.

it doesn't necessarily mean the death of the pro player if it all goes digital ,,,,,,,,,,, and there will still be money to be made no matter what they put pots up to , as long as they remain percentage based ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, if things get very very tight , then surely some people will get part time jobs , and still keep their hands in the fruits

I think BGM's stats for what will happen after fruits are pretty spot on.

A lot of barstaff know what I do. Not because I tell them, but because it's blatantly obvious. Unavoidable situation often. No??

BTW I wear tracksuits sometimes. Expensive tracksuits, but still tracksuits. Although I played a year b4 Vivid's I'd say it's the first games I remember living well off.

Does that make me a rat?? Does this mean I am somehow inferior to ppl in the game longer than me??

I'd perhaps buy into that bullshit if I didn't have more money than 99% percent of players I know.

The decision to stop making reels machines was no doubt already made when Scientific Games (Billion dollar American company who own Global Draw and Games media/juice) bought Barcrest for £35 million in 2011 , Scientific are not interested in reels machines, not enough money to be made in UK manufacturing these days, they totally domiate the FOBT market and i'm sure plan to do the same in the pub market with Juice, taking out one of the biggest players clears the way for more of this type, they will start pushing Juice/Digital hard now , will start appearing everywhere.
