Lottery debate

Post by mjd »

one of our pub discussions tonight.. If you won £101M what would you do for your family / friends / people you know..

Id basically buy lots of people out (either mortgage, or work)

Family - of course

Friends - yes

colleagues - some of my colleagues are fantastic people. Too right!

The people I were talking to were going to the levels of 'Id pay for you to come on holiday, all expenses paid'

I personally couldn't live with that?
There you go out of work on your own leave with someone who is £101M richer than you, and thats everything you get.. You have to take your time off work, and your jetting back knowing that your going to work on Monday and he isn't...

Friendship over!

depends how long the holiday is??

£500 a week holiday x 52 = £26,000 x ten people = £260,000

£101,000,000 / £260,000 is 350ish years

so without going over the figures again, it seems you could take roughly 25-40 mates on a permanent holiday for the rest of their lives!!

my 2 best mates would get 1 million and a new house
my immediate family (brothers and sisters, mum and dad) would get 1 million each and a new house each.
1 million donated to charitys
and the rest will go in the bank and i will limit myself to a daily allowance that is less than my daily interest rate so i stay rich forever.

Here's a question though, if you did win... would you still play? Recreationally or otherwise

i would honestly honestly give 11 million away between scott/gary/martin/ady/bik/both georges /keiron/ and a cpl of other players (and non player mates)that have been good to me ,,,,,,,,,, in varying amounts of course in relation of respect n friendship .

then 10 million put aside for charities ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, but this wouldn't just be given faceless to any of the charities to wittle away in red tape,,,,,,,, i would take it upon myself in my spare time to distribute the money to those in need direct.

then 15 million for tracy's side of the family ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, with it up to tracy's discretion entirely how she splits it with them .

15 million to my side.

leaving myself and tracy 50 million .

of which 10 million would be for a new house (nothing too extravagant , say 4 million ) plus a cpl of million to kit it out with gadgets and a cpl of cars (including a smart cdi lol) fruit machines , arcade games , pool tables , jacuzi , gym,,,,, etc,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, leaving 4 million play money , holidays etc

which would leave me 40 million in a high interest account ,,,,,,,,,,,,,, (to never ever ever be touched ) with the interest acting as a weekly wage.

i wouldn't waste my time starting any businesses etc ,,,,,fuck that ,,, why create headaches ,,,,,,,,,,, ide be tooooo busy enjoying myself.

ps ,,,,,,,,,, and other than my own for pleasure ,,,,,,,,,,, i would never play a fruit again , simply wouldn't interest me ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, they've only ever been a job for me , nothing more.
Little discipline = BIG issue

In all honesty no one can say "what they'd do" until the situation arose

Easy to say I'd do this this and that but you can't know how you'd react.

We all have lottery dreams but that's all they are 'dreams' and most likely they'll remain just that

i would (among many many other things) buy one of each fruit machine ive ever played, and have them in a long line in a long corridor..

i probably wouldnt play them very often, but they would be there..

if any of you lot wanted to come and play them.. that'd be ok.. any that went empty would never be refilled... so you'd have to be quite careful with any original programs

Agree with feeder 100%

I just feel negative about it all now.. I really don't want any of my friends to win it, because I know what they are like already, they are very ignorant.. You see my pictures, and how nice looking they can be, but I cannot pursuade any of my mates to go to these places, despite their intrest in such things. They would go walking with me if it was a desparate last resort, and its stressing me out..

They are not true friends, because last nights debate summed it all up really

Death obviously isn't a nice thing, but the best thing about it, is its a leveller.. You can be living the best life ever, and then BANG BANG BANG!!
