Ferry Machines

Post by asfish »

I’ve caught a couple of ferries to Ireland and one to France this year, in terms of machines there were all the same.

1. The majority of the machines were cop and robbers
2. Cash pot and reserve where full on every machine
3. Nobody was playing them

I thought that were still “pros” doing the ferries and as such would have expected to see the cashpot levels reflect that.

Does nobody bother with the ferries anymore?

I think a program revision made it that cashpots could be static at £250 even if just paid, maling them harder to read / play.

Someone else can clarify further. Never played them myself.

If they've really switched them all to 250 static pots the pros would be out of business!

unless the newer ones can be done too, it's the 200 pot version that your after. you need a couple hours to be sure of getting it done so unless it's a long boat it's not worth it. even on the 200's theres a switch so that it very rarely pays cp, but will still count up / down.

modern 70's are probably just as profitable, but there is probably still a gap in the market with ferrys.

I have a mate who still does the ferry run to this day.
I went with him and his mate on my way to Germany and they ale dry good money on them. Static pots are very readable, and the progressive ones are good for trapping any rival!

Club Barcrests are the main earners for him, especially the Dover boats.

Club barcrests? Really, last time I checked there was fuck all of those on em! The odd cash beast that costs 400 for a pot or something.

Alot of them that do ferries get phone calls from the staff on the boats when something is ready/has been pumped...

The Static pots ones are hardly readable unless they are off their head which is a rarity, taking the jp on the progressive ones is a cruel move that I imagine a fair few of them do to fuck other players over.

It's quite a hassle tbh doing em, expensive to take the car, and if you dont, you can't go past 6 or 8 I think. If you do take the car then you better get things done quickly, and in my experience they've cornered the market on the dover ones in terms of CNR you hardly ever saw em on "ready" pots... then your stuck on their with fuck all to do and out of pocket paying for the ferry - this inevitably leads to muppeting away money chasing bad games for value etc.

This was all from 5 years ago tho although I doubt anything much has changed...
