High interest
Anybody know any decent accounts to put a bit in as I have something maturing and want to reinvest?

i too would be interested , i had 30k in premium bonds for 3 years , with varying results
1st yr around 1700 , then yr 2 n 3 a lot worse ,,,,,,,,,,,, so i took em out , and left it in nat west for a yr or so ,,,,,,,,,,,,, then intrest rates took a nose dive ,,,,,,,,,, and i put it back in premium bonds ,,,,,,,,,, (not to mention , whilst it was with nat west , not a month went by without them trying to sell and hassle me with a new type of account ,,,,,,,,,,, usually stocks n shares based ,,,,,,,,,, with ''POSSIBLE'' huge returns , ,,,, but you were taking a gamble with your cash ,,,,,,, yeah right , jog on)
but premium bonds are crap overall ,,,,,,,,,,, often get £25 prizes ,,,,,,,,,, and once won a £500. ,,,,,,,,,,,, but the average year is probably worse than 1 to 2 % now ,,,,,,,,,, so whats the point ? ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, spose im just holding out for a lucky big win , ,,,,,,,,,, you dont get that chance on the high st without significant risk.
so im in the same boat as betch ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
i wont trust dodgy internet only based bank account offers and suchlike either .
so erm ?????????

You need to look at cautious investments to be honest. Inflation at close to 5% means any yield less than this and your money is worth less year on year. A cautious investment , with just 15% stock market exposure , for example , will generate more over a mid to long term. In terms ofbank accounts, maximise cash isa allowances for tax free returns. Premium bonds ok in short term but chqs above 25 quid dry up after a.while.
