Why are these games even considered legal? I've seen an endgame (i.e. 3 card shuffle) offer a top "prize" of 8p.

Quite!

It's not as though it's a piece of cake getting through to the "Endgame"

GW mmmmmmm..............15 redundant yesterday, leaving only a quarter of staff since 2 years ago. No sales team, no production, no MD or chairman! Has anyone else heard anything?

The pieces that appear about them in Coinslot always give the impression they are on top of the game and everything is going swimingly lol.

That will indeed be a shame - I guess most of us would say though that their recent offerings haven't been the best by a long shot. New rules possibly, but surely there is still a way to make an enjoyble, playable game that is fair and still falls within the laws? Making the minimum you can 'win' at least your stake would be a start...

That would be a pity. At the moment I'd wager Games Warehouse has the best machine, certainly since Paragon wimped out and gave us a load of dross propped up by BAM, Pub Quiz and Colour Of Money.

I thought GWHL were owned by the American giant AMI Entertainment Newtork? So I would have though the fate of GWHL is up to the parent company.

A quick check on Companies House confirms that as at 8th July 2011 Games Warehouse Ltd was owned by GW Acquistions Ltd.

As at 20 June 2011 the majority of shares in GW Acquisitions were held by AMI Entertainment Network Inc (Some B and C shares are also owned by individuals)

AWP/SWP is really a British sort of thing and it rarely works out well when forigners get involved. Like what happened to JPM when Sega took it over.
