Congrats!

7am starts... no problem. After a week or so you should be in a routine of it.

I'm up at about 6:30am.... well 7 days a week. Fooking knackered in the evenings, hitting bed at about 10pm, unless i'm out lol.

All the best in the new job fella and thats not a bad starting wage imo. Min wage is about £240 p/w, I think. You may even be entitled to Tax Credits too.

Cushty hours as well.

Well done MattB.

But let me warn u, the lure of making in 30 mins what you will in a day in ur new job will tempt u back in. Can u honestly sit around all day in a bakery or what ever it is knowing u've got guaranteed hits that you could spend 2 hours on and take the rest of the day off?

I appreciate the 'guaranteed' salary and only u know what ur career chances could be. Also trying to please a wife/girlfriend. But let's face it they're never happy!!!

I'm not for one minute poo pooing the idea, I'm just making u aware that ur patience will be tested on a daily grind after what u've been use to.

Good luck tho my friend.

Good luck Matt - Not that i know you personally.
I'm a full time manager for a discount retailer on a reasonable salary (£28k), and i still play to make an add on wage. As long as you are disciplined you can always make a few extra pounds - and they will go a long way towards the extra little perks in life.

Good luck bud but there is no way you will want to go out doing machines after a days work! You will just want to relax not more stress doing machines! Hope it goes well!

Short term = wrong decision but long term = right decision

Not many fruit players lead 'fruitful' lives, so even though you might be earning less money, Im sure it will benefit you in the long run. No harm in having the odd bit of night time or weekend play as well.

Not so sure about this Glendale. After a stressfull day at work relaxing with a pint in a pub is bliss. If its a pub with a playable - or the local to work with a couple of half decent machines it can round off a day at work nicely.

Thats the plus side! Downside is you go out after work, drive miles and find everything dead! I found it easier to stay in and relax! Found part time a lot harder than full time as it goes!

Problem with full time playing is that it is feast or famine. Even basic goals such as a nice house or car are out of reach for fruit machine players who haven’t already achieved it. Most life professionals, if they are honest with themselves, regret ever getting involved. I wouldn’t like such uncertainty going into later life, but then again I suppose it’s down to what each person could have achieved with an alternative path.

Better to supplement your income in my opinion, so good choice.

Good luck.7 am starts are a piece of piss once you in the groove. I leave home 6 am and get home 8 pm and although knackering to start, am now ok with it. Finishing 3.30 would be a dream for me.

I disagree with a few points here. I play Monday to Friday from 8am to 6pm with one late night of 8pm. I spend the weekends with my partner, rarely playing and just chilling.

Obviously the amounts you make are up and down. You have your great days and the odd day where everything has been battered, but over the whole week it's pretty consistent.

Travel is key really. Quite lucky as there's plenty of places nearby for me. Just pretty shit that I'm barred from some good places. But hey, you can't always have it your way.

Also another point. The long lasting money in this game is on stuff you work out yourself, not things that everyone finds out and scrambles round to play. You just have to look outside the box sometimes, easier said than done though I suppose.

Try, try and try again. That's what Timmy said as one was cancelling ones roulette bet.

Totally irrelevant point in my opinion, you could be making all the money in the world off fruits but money isn't necessarily going to make you happy. Doing a decent days work and feeling as though you've achieved something will, plus meeting new people who don't revolve around fruit machines, and stepping onto a ladder in terms of earning potential will set you on the right path in the future.

Not that i'm being critcal mate but didn't you suggest in a recent post that maybe we should be looking to do something else with our lives as the well is drying up?

I think there are some good times left in the game, and plenty of money to be had, but from a pesronal point of view I started working because I'd rather earn a shit wage doing a tedious job, appreciate the money and save some each month than carry on slotting full time and just abuse the money, save fuck all and feel as though I have nothing to live for.

Each to their own.....

That's true mate, I did say that and fair play to Matt for taking this path. Personally I couldn't afford to live on that salary and for most players that would be a huge pay cut.

What I was saying in my thread was to keep another string to your bow as I think bad times are ahead. I didn't mean take a job with reduced income, just that it would be an idea to get a back up plan as and when things go bad for us 'non redlinesmans'!

True mate, but as long as he keeps bragging about tricks he's got on here then we all know that there is going to be something good coming out in the future....

When Redlinesman announces he's getting out of the game, it's all over.
