World Rules are the daddy, end of.

I play 3 disciplines - World Rules, Bury League Rules and Radcliffe League Rules and the 2 latter leagues don't have 2 shots carry and hit a cushion every shot, but you can pick the white up in league and not the other and frames can last an hour+.....makes for a very long night. Even when I don't play WR I try and hit a cushion every shot as its so natural but if I have to fudge up to a ball I do and then I apologise to my opponent for doing so!!!

Tonight I had a shot and in all three disciplines a different shot would have been the correct shot - wheres the logic in that?

When all is said and done pool should be an enjoyable night with your team-mates and should be played to your strengths.

I only really played local rules before uni, which seems to be a collection of all the shittest rules put together in one ruleset, but since i've been at uni, been playing world rules.

Much better ruleset, as it gives anyone whos half decent at potting and tactically astute a chance of beating most players, i beat a lad whos a century break snooker player last week by just leaving him tricky clearances i knew he cudn't resist and then mopped up afterwards

Has anyone ever heard of Dave 'the jelly bean' Holt? I remember going to an exhibition when i was about 12, he was taking on all comers for £10 a frame, and giving a 5 shot head start, i was straight in and dished after 3 shots, then he said he'd give any women a 20 shot head start, my Auntie who is very good for a bird took him on and went in off after a few shots and he dished up, very good player he was. also Ross McInnes who did an exhibition at my old mans boozer, watched him jump the cue ball off the table into someone's trainer on the floor, shit hot!!!!
