I like my pool. I'm not the greatest of players but I play in the Prem (of 6 divisions) and the local Interleague team - not quite good enough for County, but heh, Lancashire is one of the best teams in the country.

Never been to Yarmouth but I've been to 'blackball' tournaments at Blackpool although I prefer World Rules. A few of my mates went to Selsey for a tournament earlier this month, people ended up taking a few liberties with the captain and it all kicked off lol!!!

The best player I've ever seen or come across is Karl Boyes, the kid was an absolute genius. I've seen him get 3 consecutive dishes with his arm in a sling and he's the only player in the league I play in who has held evry available title simultaneously. He's moved onto 9ball now and showcased his talents in the recent Mosconi Cup.

Have I beat him? Of course.....anyone can break and dish, can't they?!?! :D

Do people not play world rules? when im in skeg they play old rules like rolling up behind balls, 2 shots of the white goes down of the brake ect

They are the only rules I'll play. played a couple of games with the world rules, didnt like em, the deliberate foul ruins it.

No it doesn't, world rules is much better. You have to hit a cushion or its a foul....which speeds the game up no end. All championships at all levels use world rules, so they are the ones to use if you ask me. Having played both, world rules means choppers with less ability can't get as lucky as they can't just roll up behind something. Takes more thought and more skill to be good at world rules.

Chris Melling and Gareth Potts are fantastic players, Selby don't miss much at pool either, unstoppable at times.

Is it Potts who has the pool club in Newcastle Under Lyme? Right prick he is, he had a Skill Quest and he banned me for making £37 on it.

Horses for courses I suppose, The problem with old rules when I played in a league, the old boys would snooker you to fuck until they had the table covered then clear up with 2 shots. Some frames took upwards of an hour. So when we heard of the new world rules coming in I was looking forward to it.

But then the new rules came along and for me took the competitiveness out of the game, you come up against a great potter and you've no chance, as mentioned above 8 balls galore, whoever breaks gets a massive advantage.

and that's why I find the deliberate foul is the main flaw, If your opponent rattles 6 in off the break you need to be able to manipulate his final ball to keep you in the game, in new rules you can't, you cover the pocket it's near and they just cannon onto your ball and your fucked again.

Northern is where i usually go mate, but that's more cause we play more snooker than pool now, not sure where it is in relation to the station though.

Its sort of round the corner from the Wetherspoons, you go down a load of stairs. Its a nice club to be fair, although some of the tables aren't the best.
