Life
When you all read this, remember this point in your lives for a moment. Are you happy? Sad? Can you do anything about your situation? Will you think back to this moment in a month, a year and at that point wish you did more now then and then think you wish you did it now instead of thinking about doing it then? We all have our issues, none of us can guarantee being here tomorrow. Just think about it, think how quickly life can change. Look what happened to Japan. If we sit and do nothing, moan, be victims in life we are merely defeating ourselves - we have lost the war without a fight.

Sad in the fact that I've been graduated 5 years this summer without moving myself on to something worthwhile. I've gone from being 21 and full of optimism back in 2006, to turning 26 this July and fed up with it all. The only high point has been meeting the girlfriend and having a quality 18 months and counting with her.

They say your student years are the best of your life, and its probably true in a lot of cases. A lot of people graduate full of optimism because they believe they are about to start out on some sort of adventure. The reality is that most will get a job and its anything but an adventure, more a long haul for the next 30+ years, and a far cry from their student days. How well you get paid is a factor, but even these people often end up bitter and regretting their careeer choice due to lack of free time and pressure. Obviously there are some people who are passionate about what they do and enjoy their job.Mattb wrote:Sad in the fact that I've been graduated 5 years this summer without moving myself on to something worthwhile. Love it or loathe it, if you get fruit machine playing right, not much can beat it. As long as you don't let it overtake your life, you've got the freedom and money to enjoy your life and remain optimistic for the future.

so erm ,,,,,,,,,,, to sum up , what people are saying in this room ,,,,,,,,, erm your damned if you do , damned if you dont .
no matter the profession ,,,,, no matter the choice's you take in life ,,,,,,,,,, we all have regrets ,,,,,,, we all think the grass could have been greener down a different route.
gotta agree with redlines this time though ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, not many jobs can give you the freedom and flexibility that slotting allows .

My point was to right the wrongs if you can now rather than think back in a month, a year and wish you were back at this point then shrug it off again. I find myself thinking its steadily getting worse, that I was always in a better position when I remember something happened and at what point I was at then. I didn't graduate, I was at university when I started on fruits, as far as I was concerned I was superior to all the students who kept moaning about how skint they were all the time and how their grants and student loans were never going to last. Sitting around in a student bar drinking from plastic cups and watching people pump their money into some game that had Frank Butcher on it (think it was a £250 jackpot) didn't appeal to me! I was out and about learning my trade, streaking Homer's Meltdowns and learning how to master games like Spartacash and Trailblazer (the one with the 3 keys that you got hi-lo cash from always at least £12)... those were the days. If I could go back now...fucking hell!!!!

Slotting used to be enjoyable. The guaranteed money is in pubs where you are not that welcome these days.
And how do you feel when you cash in a £190 ticket on a "freshy" in a cliquey pub with no money in the till! I place my ticket face down to the barman/lady, and she shouts out in shock to the regulars "A HUNDRED AND NINETY POUND!!!!???????"

A £15jp which is in my top 3 machines of all time and you were better off taking 'Minefield' for a guaranteed £15.....even dodgy arcades who swapped the direction in which the hi-lo took you didn't deter me hahaha.Master of Games wrote:My point was to right the wrongs if you can now rather than think back in a month, a year and wish you were back at this point then shrug it off again.
