£5 GG Gone Crazy!
Like I said before, it annoys me that kids are allowed to pester people playing fruit machines, begging for a pound 'for the bus' and trying to give you (shit) advice or press nudge/hi-lo buttons just to get you to lose so they can hop on and pull a Jackpot. Some of them are friends with staff in there so they never get thrown out or banned (even if they are banned they come back 10 mins later). The one I used to go to even has them doing it in the under 18s area, probably because the Mega Zone in there is the only 10p machine in there, everything else being 25p or 30p play, even the £5 machines. I think if the £5 ones were put down to 10p they would stay out of the over 18s area (D&N used to be 10p but went up to 25p recently, seems to play different too - chipped?). I totally agree that the age limit should be 18 for any gambling machine, in particular AWPs, even if they're 5p play / £1.50 Jackpot. I remember once my mate getting the £25 JPT (which didn't repeat) off Happy Hour in the adults area (from £3 in!) after some kids came up and telling him they 'just had £25 out of it', which usually means they've just put £25 in and got absolutely fuck all.
I agree with all you guys completely, i was really young when i stsrted playing, probably no more than 11/12 when i started to chase my money!
I went through my whole teen years playing, at least a couple of times a week, when i was about 16 i was well hooked and can always remember getting 3 weeks holiday pay from my apprentiship in one lump sum of a whopping £180 :x I spent 4 hours in the local arcade and walked out with nothing and spent all my time off sat in watching telly!
I now only play every now and again and make sure i have a limit and stick to it, but it was really hard kicking the habit... I think at my worst point around 17/18 i lost about £3000 within around 4 weeks, and that's going back about 6 years too, baring in mind i was only earning £200 a week it completely broke me!
As much as i enjoy a game now i wouldn't recommend to anyone to even start playing..
