Has anyone ever won anything major on a scratch card????
Has anyone ever won anything major on a scratch card????
This is another form of gambling that is really starting to piss me off now. I know hundreds of people who buy tons of scatch cards but don't know any who have won something major. In fact, it is that rare I remember it hit the national paper when someone won a rich for life one!! I could imagine some big lottery chief reading the article saying "Fredo, you fucking arsehole, you told me the boys were 100 percent sure my fictional people claimed all them top prizes, now am gonna have to call luca brasi, you are a pain in the arse."
Seriously though, anyone won anything worth walking up the shop to cash??

how about a greasy pork sandwich served in a dirty ashtray.
50 quid about ten years ago
waste of time now
chances of prize 1 in 4.whatever, but since that prize can be your stake back, its majorly distorted odds.
would rather stick a quid on red on the fobt

4 rules of gambling:
1) Discipline
2) Patience
3) Never play above your bankroll
4) Know when you're beaten

I won a pair of slippers once.
I'm banned from buying these in my local post office. The guvnor said 'everytime you come in here you don't buy any stamps or post any letters, ur obviously just comin in to do my scratch cards. You get a win and then just leave.'
Shame, it was good for a few quid. If anybody wants it, it's the post office in Elmstead Market. Should get away with a few hits.

I've done a few £1 and £2 cards in my time. Most I've won was £9 and £15 from the 2 stakes respectively, and that's after buying around 30 of each type of stake over the years.
Online is worth a mention too (the Camelot web site). It's basically scratch cards but online. It was fairly entertaining back in my early 2006 days on the site. My weekly £8 limit lasted a while and I had the occasional raise. After February 2009 though, the gameplay went down the toilet, like the flick of a lightswitch. I would have like 3 consecutive £8 wagers not seeing a single winning game. A few more months into 2009 of similar behaviour, I thought "stuff it" and I excluded myself from Camelot instant play. (I still play lotto numbers though).
