I think I know already....but where do I stand!?

Post by barneybear »

For some bizarre reason, I left work and went over the road to get my car, and gotdrawn into the local arcade on the high street.

Was greeted by tongue and groove wall coverings and an air of suspicion. Oh and the offer of a coffee which was nice.

Anyway, the only £70 they had was an alien so i thought I would try a tenner. Whisked through and no board. Tried a further 20. No board. Another 2 or 3 in and the coin mech jammed so the old dear came out to try to get it going again.

A feeble effort on her part and needless to say the machine was having none of it.

I asked her to call her boss, as I had parted with 30 quid and expected something back soon...ish. She just took my number and said he will call me after the engineer has been. Surely all the engineer will say is "yep coin mech is broken (as per the display)".

As I performed to my side of the contract, ie: spent money on their gaming machine, should they not have to perform to contract and provide a machine that actually works?

.....or do I just not have a leg to stand on!?

Answers and opinions appreciated!

No leg to stand on surely.

It worked for the money you actually put in and that's all that really matters. Maybe you're entitled to the £2 or so that got stuck. But not the £30.

I don't know much about aliens except to stay well away from them. So the coin jam might have done you a favour really :)

Unless you had a win in the machine, there is shite all you can do mate and the boss of the place won't give a shiny. Sometimes if I am stupid and try to force a machine, after a £100 balls deep I start thinking "What the fuck could I do here if the machine decided to throw a wobbler?", and then I think "Fuck all". :o ops:

I have a feeling you may get swamped with pm's asking where you were playing this machine.

Well Ive got 2 within 50 metres of each other right over the road! Just a shame I obviously dunno how to play them! One of them is in a pub which opens for 3 hours a day which is a bit weird!

If you get people asking questions and your answer to them all gets them excited, sell them the location because there are a few ass wipes on here who shaft people. You could go with them and they say shit like "No, its no good mate" and then as soon as your gone they turn back round and smash them for all their worth, sneaky fuckers. :x

sounds like it's kept on top of anyway. £30 and no board, probably done him a favour going wrong if he had plenty more cash on the hip.

I normally go back the following morning, i never wait for a machine to be fixed, as it can take an engineer a whole day to even arive at the pub location. :P

Echoing many posts here - a mate and I went halves (£30 / £15 each) on an Alien back in early September and didn't get a single board. It's definitely the highest board cost I've known for an AWP.

or a few weeks/months, in the case of gamestec!

I had a coin mech fail when 80 into a jackpoteers. Not ideal, but part of the risk you take.
Bored of the grind.

each press of the start button is an independant "game" and they are not liable for any "game" other than the one you are playing, so at best, they owe you the credits you had left.. and on top of that "machine malfunction voids pays" so an error on any game has zero liability for the site.
