EVERYONE PLEASE READ ( YOUNG GAMBLERS)
Were do i start,Ok seen far to many youngsters gambling just lately, yes we all start somewhere but was wondering if at all possible we could deter some of them and stop them ruining there lives, even if we only get through to 1 or 2.I live at a seaside resort and am sick of parents giving there kids money to play fruits while they sit there getting pissed and also young lads hanging round looking under machines for peanuts is this how we want our kids to grow up i for 1 dont. Some of you may think what a cock stop rambling, but its a sad true state of affairs. So what i thought of was does anyone have any horror stories they can post,Doesnt have to be about them could be something they have seen or read,eg People losing houses or turning to crime drugs etc all through addiction. We all big up gambling on here with i won this i won that empty this or that.Hows about a few home truths please...
Bang Tidy,Potatoes,Shittiiiiing,Smash Ya Back Doors In....
I had the bug from an early age, and i'm ashamed to say i stole money to play the machines in my old mans boozer, a couple of examples, every Sunday my Dad would do a pound draw, he would always take £2 from the money and put it in a giant whisky bottle we had sat behind the bar which would go towards the OAP christmas party, so at the end of the year he knew there should be £104 nuggets (at least) amongst other Silver, Coppers, but no i'd been taking it
ops: got belted for that.
Another time i was given a tin from the boys club i used to go to to take round the pub, the kind you see chained to the pumps in pubs, after taking it round one particular busy Saturday afternoon and seeing plenty of nuggets go in i took it upstairs with me, got a knife from the kitchen draw, held it upside down and tried to get the £1 coins out, heard the door open, looked to my left to see my Dad staring straight at me
another belting.
I got banned from playing them, but it did'nt stop me, as i've mentioned before, i used to practice with Mark Selby, he would come down most days after school (he's about 4 years younger than me) his brother Malcolm had it bad, he would get his dole money on say a Tuesday, so when he walked Mark the short distance to the pub i would always tell him to come in and have go on the machines, assuring him they were ready to pay, he did'nt need any persuading, and many times he would walk out skint, and we had'nt even hit a ball, at least i was'nt losing my money, i was just happy to watch, sad but true, luckily i grew out of it, i still see Malc pumping the shit out of stuff now.

1. Fix the parents and the kids will have a decent chance of growing up into fine young adults. Without parents that care, it's very unlikely they will amount to anything.mr cheese wrote:Were do i start,Ok seen far to many youngsters gambling just lately, yes we all start somewhere but was wondering if at all possible we could deter some of them and stop them ruining there lives, even if we only get through to 1 or 2.I live at a seaside resort and am sick of parents giving there kids money to play fruits while they sit there getting pissed and also young lads hanging round looking under machines for peanuts is this how we want our kids to grow up i for 1 dont.
2. You can't put an old head onto young shoulders.
3. To fix point 2. you have to involve the kids in something else that's interesting to them, which will mean an investement of time by the parents. See point 1.
"If only there were evil people somewhere insidiously committing evil deeds, and it were necessary only to separate them from the rest of us and destroy them. But the line dividing good and evil cuts through the heart of every human being. And who is willing to destroy a piece of his own heart?"

Years ago there was this woman who used to go down the arcades early afternoon, a real sick degenerate gambler who wouldn't take her eyes off whatever she was playing even if she was in a conversation. She would normally leave around 3 in order to pick her daughter up from school. However it got to the point where she would send a taxi to pick her daughter up and drop her at the arcade she was in, so she didn't have to leave the machine. She would then give her a couple of quid to spend on the pushers. Within an hour she would be sat outside the cash area saying she was hungry, and wanted to go home. Her 'mother' would invariably send her down McDonalds for her tea. Fucking disgusting. Some nights she'd still be there at 8 or even 9 o'clock, sat almost in tears on the floor while her mum cashed another cheque in order to play 2 bar x's at the same time. The poor girl would even do her homework in the arcade. The staff usually tried to keep her amused by giving her some swag out of the pushers.Scott wrote:I had the bug from an early age, and i'm ashamed to say i stole money to play the machines in my old mans boozer, a couple of examples, every Sunday my Dad would do a pound draw, he would always take £2 from the money and put it in a giant whisky bottle we had sat behind the bar which would go towards the OAP christmas party, so at the end of the year he knew there should be £104 nuggets (at least) amongst other Silver, Coppers, but no i'd been taking itops: got belted for that.

Personally I can relate to some of what Scott said. When I was a kid i'd lift silver out of my mothers purse, and wrap it up in tissue paper so it made no noise in my pocket. Then i'd walk into town along the beach and spend the money on the pier, on all the lovely 2p machines such as Blue Streak and Master Spy etc. I did it mainly to get out of the house because after my Dad died the bloke my mother spent the next 15 years with was a complete prick, but i'm still ashamed off it all.

I've gambled money I shouldn't have many times. ruined a couple of relationships but I'd never do that again, I don't even see fruit machines a s a big problem but that's obviously because I don't live near places children are exposed to them. The world would be a much better place for thousands if FOBTS were banned though, that's a a fact.

when i was at university i gambled my rent money once and had to pawn my computer. I gave up gambling in casinos, joined a gym, played fruits to make money and studied hard and got a first. I came from a middle class background, although my parents used to take me to arcades for some reason. Ive been gambling since i was 12, and throughout my gcse's and A levels i used to get the bus the 30 miles to the arcades..although i was a winner, i lost alot of my childhood..... ive been gambling for 16 years. I could have taken a different path in life, got a good job, had a wife and probably kids by now. Although i have a girlfreind my life has a void in it. We all make desicions in life some good, some bad.
On the other hand i could have a job, morgage 2.4 kids, wife and be misserable as sin sat in watching x factor, kids screaming and wife being a bitch.
Its hard to admit ive been a gambler since i was 12 guys. I feel better now for getting that off my chest though. My desicsion to become a professinal fruit player has been 50/50 to me. no pun intended.
hope some more people admit to how they began

Thank you for that Mr. Move it, after the fight last night, we were having a little chat about whats been happening in the news, the last few weeks.Mr Move It wrote:Working class = low-to-medium income skilled / manual workers.
Middle class = large family house (probably band E) and works as a manager or professional (doctor perhaps).
Upper class = Dukes, Lords, Ladies and such titles etc.
According to Wikipedia :-)
And i mentioned during the converstion, that i believed middle class were higher earners and doctors, bank managers and so on..
No!!, he said, they are working class, because they work!, and the tories invented it back in the 1920s, preying on peoples snobbery..he said a bit more, but i can't remember it all, because id had quite a few drinks watching the fight!!
love and time. the kids dont get any. if you live by a seaside resort it must be dead hard not being able to resist playing them. it all goes in cycles as well. im sure those kids at a loose end with their parents in the pub will be doing the same with their own kids soon enough. t
They say politics is a dodgy subject but the labour government sure didnt help by giving so many "incapacity" benefits away on a plate. ive witnessed it and talked with some of these types of parents in pubs on the seafronts down by the south coast and its always the same, they were better off on benefits than getting a job.
On your point as well, students are gona be the next victims of the gambling industry i have seen so many get involved with it to attempt to pay of debts its unreal. lord help us

Students are parasites on society. If u wanna free ride for 3 or 4 years it ain't gonna happen. Damn right they should pay for extra education, if they study hard enough instead of fuckin about all the time then it shouldn't take them to long to pay off the debts they build up.
But most of them come out with fuck all moaning that they can't get a job and are saddled with big debts. Tough fuckin shit. Get ur arse in mcdonalds or in the local factory to work it off. But wait 'I went to uni, I'm not doin that job'. Fuckin clueless fuckwits. Future of our country??? Worrying times.
Surely students would be far to clever to get suckered into gambling to solve building debts? Coots the lot of em, bar the 1% that actually work hard at it.

Some do say that, but the others who want a job cant usually get 1 because.
A) in this time most companys are getting rid of higher paying jobs to cut costs (the jobs they wanted)
B) the jobs like Mc Donalds and Tesco they cant get as they are now 21 and they have to pay them more than an 18 year old.
C) agency work is 90% covered by forigners.
D) getting told there "over qualified" so they cant even work stacking shelfs at tesco.
I went to college but i didnt go to uni but I know a few who are stuck at the moment. But also know others who NEVER want to work, which does pi** me off
