We can't do anything.
Just keep trying our best to be as polite and as little on top as possible, the way the pub business is right now the landlords change every few months.
Try to talk to the landlord/full time staff, even if its just small talk...
Recently ive had more barrings than I can count and I know its boring, but I also know there is nothing I can do..its part and parcel.

Unbelievable Jeff
If you owned a pub and every few days the same person/people kept coming in and taking money out of the machine eventually you'd tire of it. Most landlords don't know enough about the machines to understand. It's not their fault.
The pub industry is dying on it's arse, every penny counts and pro players helping themselves to a £100+ a week is large %age of takings to smaller privately owned pubs.
Admittedly you do get heat in larger chain pubs but not as much as tennant/private jobbies.
This topic comes up over and over. Be polite, try and not dress like a twat, spend time before and after u do the machine. Small talk, anything really. But after a few visits it's inevitable they'll know why you go in.
Ur right Glendale, we don't do anything wrong, but it's part of it. So deal with it.

obviously it's annoying, but there are always ways round it, sending other people in, going when you know the person who banned you isn't working...
the only thing that annoys me is when they are not honest with you...like today, was told machine was broke, and it was turned off, had to drink my pint and act like I believed him, will try another time with different staff....but this is a pub I only do once a week because of heat, always buy an alcoholic drink, even asked about holding a pretend party there

If they ask me not to play the machine then fair enough, il get somome to go in for it, but its when they turn it off while your on it/collecting ect. ir what pisses me off even more is when the lanlord is such a maggot he wont dare bar youinsted he turns machine off while your at the bar.Glendale wrote:So then, whats your view cannonball? In a tight area like yarmouth you prob suffer worse than most! What can we do?
Im only bared from a handfull of pubs that have decent fruits, what makes me happy is walking past a pub im bared from and its shut down because they are not making enough money.
Yes but machine taking's is based on credits played through it, not who wins or loses, a point sadly missed by many landlords....BFK wrote:

Yes but a pro player is of no benefit to the pub. All he does is buy one drink and take the money the regulars may otherwise have won and spent in the pub.ob wrote:Yes but machine taking's is based on credits played through it, not who wins or loses, a point sadly missed by many landlords....BFK wrote:

haha yeah literally a few pubs after we spoke! Pretty sick luck there mate - though at least things happEn in 3s so you should be all good now :-)AMK wrote:Christ. That must have been literally an hour after phoning me mate? Lol. I have brought everyone bad luck recently.
Example of misfortune for me and others this week...
Sat in front of a bloke on a train, he collapsed and died during the journey.
Got to a hotel in Birmingham and the fire alarm went off as soon as I got in the shower on the 9th floor. Room 911. How ironic.
Bored of the grind.
AMK is a fucking curse.
There are lots of different deals you can gave with suppliers and believe me if it's the landlords money inside he's not gonna want the same bloke taking it out over and over.
Of course ur right OB we know it's %age based and how things REALLY work. But I can totally see their point.
Agreed with others tho, there's a way to go about it, switching machines off mid play or when collecting is not the right way.

Definitely true, if I'd had a few very good hits on a pub and they came over and said "look i'm really sorry, we know you don't do anything wrong but you're hitting our machine takings really hard, could you either a) come back less often or b) don't play the machine" then I'd be pretty upset at losing a good hit but also far less upset with how things had gone with respect to the 'talking to'.BFK wrote:

But when people shout and scream at you, threaten to call the police, follow you out of the pub, turn the machine on you before/mid play or collecting the bank out, this is just unacceptable in my view. Although it's also possible that their pub is on the verge of bankruptcy which I suppose is a reason why they are taking such a stressed approach!
Like Cannonball, I take immense pleasure in seeing a pub where I got treated badly close down. I always have a wry smile when I drive past the Bishop's Oak in Tonbridge, they had an Invincible and then a Crazy Cashpoint and didn't even have the guts to bar me, that plug switch behind the bar was convenient for them though so now it's all boarded up I'm not upset at all!
Bored of the grind.
You say that though Spyder but what exactly would you do? I had some twat plug something on me with his switch behind the bar, this was when the JP was clocking up in the bank, there were cameras everywhere in this place, i asked him why he'd turned it off and he just spouted some bollocks about the machine turns itself off when you win too much, i'm all for standing up for yourself and i don't mind a ruck, but i don't wanna get nicked!
Cobwebs
Spyder you always make them sort of remarks, but you'll soon end up inside with that take on life. What they do is wrong yes but it's not illegal.
By and large it seems many lads on here do there best to not get barred, but I've seen quite a few players not give a toss, maybe they were just passing through but they just walk in, cheapest drink, nail the fruit as fast as possible, walk out and don't touch their drink.
You as a pub owner get a few of them through & you'll soon be on your toes yourself.
My last barring thankfully was a "You can drink but not play machine" which I held no grudge about. Especially when it went bump 6 months later.

i dont know any tricks or empties, any money i won is legit... completely legit.. and if they try and take the money off me.. they might as well take my wallet out of my pocket...
id move the machine to somewhere where the switch was working and plug it back in..
if this fails.. and they get funny with me.. ill do what i did last time someone pissed me off that much... smash the fuck out of the machine..
