Monoploy - Road to Riches

Post by Bertster_ADS »

Hi Guys,

Nipped in to the amusements for a few minutes earlier and played this.
Stuck two quid in and the cashpot thing went straight to £7-40. I hi/low'ed the board up to a fiver (I think) and the cashpot went up to £11-40 before the board hit 'Spin Out.' At this stage I was on the second / middle level of the feature board, but I don't think any had been taken off by that time.

Question is, should I have battered on >? Was quite happy to walk out as my girlfriend was due to finish work and ring me & I shouldn't be gambling.

Also, what lights need to lit up at the top for it to be top feature ?

Thanks in advance.

Free Parking was the thing I was referring to.

Any comments appreciated.

If time was on a budget and you ' shouldn't ' really have been there, then you did the right thing.
The best feature is red 'Road to Riches' which automatically collects, basically jackpot guaranteed with chance to win extra at no risk. There are a couple of other features up top which pay jackpot I'm sure.

How far where you from a top? Well worst case, assuming £35 jackpot, on a lower % they could still take over a jackpot amount for top feature even showing a >£10 cashpot, flipside, it might have been next board or even that board that went in, all in all though, sensible decision.

Hi mate,

Yeah, if I had have stayed I would have been most likely caught. I have forbidden from gambling as I have had well documented problems.

Was playing on 50p's. The fact that the Free Parking started at £7-40 surely must have meant something, though ?
Thing is it spun me out after the F.P. went to £11-40. Was on a 3, but feel it may have chinned me if had highed it.

The time issue was defs the winner as my situation with this is serious, and the girlfriend's reaction would have been extreme, so that is the good aspect. I can't, however, stop thinking that I may have been able to force if had have given it another few minutes....

And that is the gambler's folly, the eternal sping of optomism.
I don't want to go all Jeremy Kyle on you, but you shouldn't have gone there in the first place. When in the tender stages of giving up, try to pre plan your day to avoid temptation.

Collecting was the right thing to do given that you were there. Take it from me, a professional disciplinarian, who doesn't play rubbish such as Rainbow Riches.

Here is what would have happened had you stayed on and gone for the force.

Next £20 you get four boards, one jacks you off at £2 just for a giggle but the others show you £6 and super streak or £5.60 on the cashpot.
You continue to push.
Things start looking a bit happier but that top level is playing hard to get.
After exactly £40 in you get a forced invincible and watch as Road to Riches clocks up, it goes to £35, you've got no credit left, quick change another £20, one pound in....ah no credit break, flat £35.
You try a few more boards and after getting amongst other things, red lucky roll for £8, you realise you're £1 up. Disappointing as you could have been more up from collecting the cashpot on that first board and you know it'll be someone else who gets the proper 'free' streak that you were playing for...nay bother, it's rare as rocking horse shit...you go to collect when

DOO DOO DAA DAAA DOOO DOOO DA DA

No it's not the greatest hits of The Police back catalogue, it's a PAY UNIT ERR 17. So you tell the nearest change operative, an obliging chap called Vaz that the machine has malfunctioned. Unfortunately Vaz is enbroiled in a heated argument with a customer called Ocean, so you have to go and find another higher level operative called Jan. Jan is flirting with someone on the phone, but when you do get her attention it's unlucky as the machine keyholder is having a poo and will be at least fifteen more minutes.

It is then that your phone rings.....you pull it out your pocket, it's the missus you panic and hit the answer key. She hears the robotic synthesis of the PAY UNIT ERR 17 and the game is up. The confrontation is here and you know you only have yourself to blame.

£1 is going to be of no consolation to you for the heartache that will follow, minus £400 certainly isn't going to be, for that is what you will spend on Rainbow Riches and roulette when you pass a bookmakers, with nothing to lose in terms of pride, only money.

Gambling is a pain in the arse. Liberate yourself, become addicted to typing messages on message boards. You might get sore fingers and you may go blind, but you can always blame that on excessive masturbation.

Cheers - JG - (Only joking about the last bit.)

Hi again.

Had a good chuckle at most of that, mate.

Know exactly that it is gambler's optimism that allowed me to walk up the road thinking what I did. Thanks for explaining and reassuring me with what may, and most probably would have happened.

The g/friend has given me enough chances, so ultimately I did the right thing. Won a tenner in a matter of 3 or 4 minutes or less. If I had have stayed even a few minutes more it could have been truely disasterous for me. We are moving in together and have plans for buying this, that and the other, so I was lucky.

Thanks for your input, mate.

All the best.

That sums everything up. You got a tenner, had a little fun, and walked. Well played.

Oh, and the missus will never know. :P

this machine is nice to force, and id say given you had time and cash, etc, i would have considered/gone for it. you didnt have the time / gambling problems, etc, so you made the right choice.

could have been nice and jacked quickly, or took £20+ or whatever. you were £10 up, if you didnt collect that and the JP took more than £25, then you would have been down, or if it took another £15, then you might aswell of collected the original cashpot as you would have again been £10 up.

always the risk with gambling. sometimes you have to go for it. sometimes you dont.

you made the right choice :)

Cheers, guys.

Yeah, the girlfriend didn't end up knowing, but only just. She knows what route I walked home on and knows approx. time that I left Nandos to get something to eat. My main gambling location was on my route home.
She knows how long I spend in these places, so I was lucky !

Thanks again, folks.
