NEW PINTS MAKE PRIZES CATEGORIES
NEW PINTS MAKE PRIZES CATEGORIES
The dreaded update to Pints Make Prizes categories has occured - has anybody seen how heinous the new subjects are? Here's just a snapshot of some of the categories that I had to negotiate the other day:
American Idol
Oscar-winning Composers
Kevin Costner Movies
A-Team Episodes
Mythical Creatures
Ladies Magazines
Things Not To Put In A Scented Candle
Places Not To Fart
Mastermind Specialist Subjects
Thoughts You Wouldn't Admit To Having To The Wife
One-Hit Wonders
Ways To Waste Time In The Office
Cops
Sci-Fi TV Movies
I'm sure there are plenty more. I can't see me JP-ing this for a while!

Pints update
Hey grecian. The update has appeared on that very same system - the one with the new £50 Battleships JP and By Any Means.
As for further categories, there are more, but they were very outlandish and based on some kind of satire rather than fact. Interesting times ahead if like me, you enjoy scoring that £10 JP on a regular basis.

Re: Pints update
I'm no expert at the game, but do play it a bit and can get a JP when it's looking moderately happy. Do these new categories feature in the main game, or only in the latter part of the game (i.e. do they replace the categories like castles, night sky, terrorist groups etc., or are they more widespread than that?)leamgem wrote:Hey grecian. looking forward to seeing these. i like PMP as a game but the wit was getting tired, by the look of these new categories the game will be playable again. personally i couldn't give a tinker's cuss for obscure mountains however, 'places not to fart' can be equally impossible but infinately more enjoyable.
nobody ever wins on those things.
The new categories appear at the beginning and then inter-mingle with the traditional subjects: Castles, Stars, Apple Varieties, Inventors etc. These established categories then come to the fore a la 'old pints' as you reach the higher prizes.
More of the new fiendish topics have been revealed including:
Scapegoats
Tat on e-bay
Huge movie flops
He-man characters
In the operating room
US 101
Hindu Gods
Room 101
Phobias
Fetishes
Job titles only seen on movie credits
Categories I wasn't allowed to put in!!!
The newbies are stacking up! Looking forward to learning some of them

excellent i look forward to seeing these, it is all bit of fun, so long as they haven't dickered with the core gameplay, this will still be one of the first games i look to.
i trust 'hungarian interjections' will be included in this one. it is about time ISTENEM got another airing on SWP.leamgem wrote: Categories I wasn't allowed to put in

i like this update very much, it made me smile more than once which has got to be a positive.
there seem to be plenty of new categories, most of which show a deal of wit (if these things are important to you). however it does make the game very much harder; i welcome this because i want to be stretched by SWP, but will joe public agree?
i have some doubts.
also it seems very near to the knuckle with regards to sexism, i realise that 90% of the target market is male but it seems rather crass in parts. this doesn't bother me because i can be as ~ist as they come but lefties might be grumpy about it.
a caveat: it has made PMP very much harder which might alienate those who treat SWP as a game, i am pretty good at this game but this afternoon i played 8 recce games without sniffing a prize, although i was being deliberately cavalier. but it is about time imo so i like it over all. well done GWHL (and well done for putting a test machine on my doorstep).

Yeah, I recall thinking this the other day when I first bumped into the new version.dmac wrote:The main difficulty is identifying which of the new categories are associated with a killer bonus. I would hope that's still possible
My initial reaction is I don't like it. There seem to be so many categories now, and some of them really vague, that memorising some answers is gonna be tough.

memorising lists is all well and good if you can be bothered, but a lot of these new answers seem to defy logic. hangman is a guessing game, not a test of memory and as such requires a different (universal) approach.
but i'm not gonna moan, it was about time the bank got an overhaul.
i have to voice some concerns about a couple of crass answers: categories i wasn't allowed = GIRLS I'VE HAD AT GAMES WAREHOUSE and childhood disease = LEUKEMIA (only one A but that is another matter). i've only played maybe a dozen games so far but these are alarmingly distasteful.
but i do hope the new phrases give it another lease of life, rather than alienate its fans in the pub, PMP has been a popular game for some time.

Oh deary deary me, someone, somewhere, just possibly reading this board now, might get a handbag wrapped around their head for that one.Istenem wrote: a couple of crass answers: categories i wasn't allowed = GIRLS I'VE HAD AT GAMES WAREHOUSE
As ever your input is valued and the distastefulqzjzjqness (scores a lot on Word Up) has been noted.
