Played a paragon with version 5 on yesterday. Some new games.
Track and field
Match of the day
Beat the landlord - the only game I actually played. Top prize is a massive £3!
I think there were others but cant quite remember (I had a few before and after!)
I did notice that Casino Royale had changed. It sometimes only offered £1 on 50p instead of the guarenteed £3 it does on other versions.
Bristol.
Aparently Games Warehouse have sent out updates to all customers. Suppose it will just be a matter of time until suppliers update their machines.
Played an upgraded one the day in a local of mine played a few new games and they all seem to be guff. And did notice what you where saying about royale got offered the pound a few times whilst on 50p
there's a piece in this weeks coinslot that says games warehouse are to introduce an awp paragon terminal with 70 pound jackpots that offer a true 50/50 repeat upto max 210 pounds,i won't attempt to explain in more detail off the top of my head without the article in front of me though coz i've had a few large voddies. i'll type it up sometime soon unless someone beats me to it.
tip .for those who want to check out the new games head to your local wetherspoons with 2 terminals.
bt landlord--- similar to pub quiz bollocks
crossword game -- similar to quid for grids -- dont like much
olympics- i suggested this to a company yrs ago glad MY idea was adopted eventually - ill see if i can dig out my e mail-- credit to the konami company complete authentic 80's game with questions. vereeeeeeee slow!
football game £10 jackpot i believe - bit like big match with scoring goals at end
major casualty appears to be DOND and millionaire.
found one of these in suburban London yesterday. at last.
from what i saw at ATEI, a couple of things have changed for the worse.
MOTD has the biggest splash which i guess is about right, the team selection has gone so you don't play as (or against) a real team which strikes me as a pity. when i played at ATEI you had a submenu of divisions so you could pick grimsby town and it automatically gave you a black&white shirt. presumably it was some licensing/copyright problem, but it still seems playable to me. and fair in gameplay too. i tried to deliberately miss the shot by aiming directly at the goalkeeper and it said i'd hit the post. QQQQ, QQQ, QQ, Q seems to reward your progress in a more obvious way too.
BTL is not my sort of game but i like the idea of a realistic JPJP (joe public jackpot) there is a market for this game, not amongst people who read this but pub folk with lower expectations might prefer this to an equivalent game. the landlord character is annoying though. he has one bulging eye and i don't understand why; is he supposed to look like somebody? was he originally drawn to wear a monocle? maybe i'm just being dim.
i mostly like the crossword game, in part for the unnecessary touches like the coffee mugs giving off steam (which is quite beautiful steam) and when your time is running out, the pen becomes red. but not just blue-to-red in a clunk, it does a dynamic shift through shades of purple. it is not the best game ever (that is still Word Up) but it is okay. i never bothered with the clues on Q4G but glancing at these, i'd suggest they are a bit too tricky for deadheads.
T&F. i liked this one too, it might have been nice to be able to customise your man: give him a ginger stosh, pink headband etc. but it takes long enough as it is. somebody before me had got to 25k (presumably winning a prize) so i didn't persevere through to the endgame. the scoreboard was already full of real players; i don't know how long this has been sited but people have been punting £1 a go on the new concept. i'll play it again when i have more time to kill and try out the skill games too.
Hex Maniac is a easy enough and i like the silliness of it. the Hex Life counter raised a brief smile.
Trailblazer has had 50p from me.
not sure the menu is very intuitive (didn't titbox do a similar categorised menu some time ago but revert for the next issue?) but if you want to play megatouch you can find it if you want to. haven't seen the buttons cabinet so no comment on this as yet.
also word soup/cocks & throbbers scoreboards are reset without an obvious return to the friendliness of installation mode.
overall it is a decent reissue with broad appeal. very late in arriving but better late than not invited.
I've experimented with a few of these new versions (call me a wally, but this IS the version with the 7 or 8 'tabs' at the base of the screen - Quiz / Fun / Yadda?)
Bully is indeed still there and played pleasantly enough - not tried any of the other games yet, however...
"And do you ever contradict yourself, Minister?" "Well, yes and no..."
Played the new games and had a go at the Track and Field too. But couldn't get to the qualifier. (1500 points shy). Oh well. It would be good to get to throw the javelin for cash as i can bash those babies faster than sugar ray..!
