Liverpool Vs Arsenal

Post by gambogaz1 »

Whats the general feeling about tonight lads??
Not very often you get Arsenal at 4's and the draw at 2.5/1 looks appealing.
I'm considering lumping a tenner on the draw and on arsenal.
£15 profit on the draw and £30 if arsenal win. £20 loss if the scouse win.

5.9 on Betfair. Might be worth a few quid (although if it's at 5.9, it's 5.9 for a reason).

Arsenal have secured fourth spot 95% so they are going to playing Champions league football next season.

They can NOT do anything in the league, there is nothing to play for anymore...... what they do have though is the Champions League against man u.

So why would Arse play a full strenght team and try to win when it could cost him the only chance of silverware he has left?!!

If Arsenal win then realisticly man u have won the league and this means man u can rest players in the league games for the Champions league clash against Arsenal!

So if Arsenal lose then man u wont be able to rest players against pompey tommorow - this gives man uniteds first teamers a real tough game and a change to get injured for the game against Arsenal in the semis!!

This means that really Arsen will want to lose in a way to make it alot easier for his team to get to the final!!

So I would lump Liverpool tonight!! MARK MY WORDS WE WILL WIN I PROMISE

My instict says a draw tonight. Liverpool are unbeaten at home hence the high odds for a loss, but then there's also a lot of draws. Arsenal where unbeaten in about 19 games before saturday.
Eduardo is fit, Arshavin ineligible for CL so has to make the most of league games, Nasri rested in 2 of the last 3.
Liverpool just don't look the same without Gerrard, especially at home.
I agree with all your points anfield, you'd think they'd gladly lose but football is a funny old game.

Draw looks likely imo. However I can see why people are betting on Arsenal purely for value!

Noticed in Corals as I was passing at lunchtime that Alonso was chalked up at 20-1 for first goalscorer. Struck me as reasonable value as he would probably take any penno in Stevie G's absence?

penno in Stevie G's absence
And I'll cynically add the fact that Liverpool are now a lot less likely to be awarded a pen... ;)

Good luck whatever you go with tonight though lads. :)

Excellent logic from anfield, and I think he's got it spot on. I envisage an entertaining game, which Liverpool win 3-1. Arsenal play attractive football but will not be full strength, and I think their style suits Liverpool.

Comeon you reds!
