How much ?

Post by harry2 »

If someone offered you a job how much would you be prepared to work for to give up fruits ? Say 40 hours a week, 9 to 5. Mon-Fri.
Roulette free since December 2011.

The more I earn, the more i spend playing fruits...
So it's an irrelevant question ;)

there should be an option for those of us who are in a "normal" job.
in real terms i play SWP for pocket money and AWP because i have no discipline. i'm good enough at wordgames to win if i want to but it is a hobby not a job.
nobody ever wins on those things.

Meh, I'd simply keep playing them no matter what job/salary I had. I mean, I play darts for 2 teams on seperate nights at seperate pubs in different ends of the county. So when I'm out for a darts night, I'll play then.

I won't stop darts for any jobs, so it comes under the same equation. :)

Even getting 35k (inc tax) a year, thats £100 a day ish and thats far from hard to achieve, it is also done in your own time. NO DEAL :)

What I look at is an hourly figure here, rather than yearly etc.

If I can hazard an average of what I make per hour playing, I'd say it was £20/hour+ (although this is always volatile over time)

How many hours you want to put in to make more or less per day/week is purely down to lifestyle choice; it doesn't make you any better a player etc. doing more hours it's just a lifestyle choice - some (you know who you are) may say you are more "determined" or "dedicated" or "professional", etc.etc. putting in long hours, but all it boils down to is a lifestyle choice.

I would find most jobs which payed more than the hourly figure I quoted to be unsuitable for me given the rigid high hourly structure that is present in the UK job market. Perhaps such players that I have alured to above would be more suited to such jobs... and bear in mind I don't say this with any prejudice against people who like to work hard, there's nothing wrong with it, it's just not my cup of tea; ironically that's why I'm still in this game in the first place :)

For me I'd have to have at least £50k offered after tax to consider it, and it would have to be a job I'd have a chance of enjoying otherwise I wouldn't last in it. I don't particularly enjoy fruits but it's the lesser of 2 evils as far as I'm concerned...
Bored of the grind.

ive mentioned this ages ago in another thread ages ago .

for those of us that have been at this for a long long time , and no insults intended for those in full time employment .

i may be going out on a limb here , and it may be just me ( although i seriously doubt it ) but after 20 years + at this , and never ever having a " conventional " job , i feel i have been conditioned , , a product of the years of self preservation , living to my own devices , our own rules , etc etc ,,,, and im first to admit , it has gone to my head a lot , and has led towards my cocky swagger im above the system attitude , and general dont give a fuck what society thinks of me attitude , big headed boasting twat ,,

im not proud of my personality traits , but there you are .

now when the question of a " conventional " job arises , for me its a scary prospect , because despite the wage , its taking away the freedom of the lifestyle im accustomed to . having to be at the beck and call of the man , the thought sends a chill down my spine .

i know that its a childish attitude to take , but i bet im not alone on this .

i used to think that the wage would have to be huge to tempt me away from my freedoms ( which is hard to put a price on ) , but as ive got older the physical daily trudge is slowly getting to me and , the thought of conventional employment is slowly , slowly mind , looking more attractive .

a few more years , and a light clerical job will be hard to resist ,,

but its a catch 22 , ,,,,, because sadly without any qualifications , im not gonna walk into a £500 a week job.

right now if sombody offered me a £600 take home a week job , ide take it , but that aint gonna happen .

so for now im not gonna tick an option , but in 3 -5 years time , who knows.
Little discipline = BIG issue

Wasn't there a guy on Rogue Traders who did those?
(He wasn't being investigated for that by the way).
