Maygay Machine Start Problem

Post by stasiak »

Hi, can anyone help with a problem I have with my Simpsons Homers Meltdown machine?

When I switch the machine on it makes a clicking sound coming from the speaker, and this just continuously just does this, no lights come on neither do the reels spin. This started about 6 months ago, where it would do this then start up as normal, then it would require turning off and on again then it would work. Now though there's nothing except this clicking sound.

Could anyone please shed some light on this please?

Many thanks in advance.

Had this a before, and the cause was down to the eproms!

Try taking them out and refitting them - worked for me!
must have just been oxidation connections.

Or just try pressing on the tops of the proms 1st

Sorry for the long reply, I've been away.

I'll try that thanks, it's funny as it started no problem this morning, but I'm sure it'll do it again.

Thanks

Sounds like it could be classic battery leakage damage, it's common enough on Epochs.

The ones with original boards in yes. But I am still seeing far more MPU problems lately, whereas it always used to be PSU problems that were more prevalent.

Agreed, although Battery damage could easily be avoided if the correct maintainance had been carried out.

True. It's very often just because they have been sat switched off in a shed or arcade storeroom for months.
