yeh I made this point the other day to someone, surely if you hit it when it doesnt light the skill then you wont hit it! Or am I wrong in that one, not sure.

It was me !

I'm pretty sure the light not lighting is purely a case of the MPU not keeping up.

This can easily be proven with an emulator. If someone would release a ziggy / rovers on the emulator scene - we can answer the question once n for all !

slowing down the emu is misleading. It takes an age for button presses to register so the 'jumps' you speak of may not be jumps at all.

Yes cabin fever is on the emu, knock it behind, get a few ^^ \/\/ starts and, slow it down a midge to make it very hard to muck it up and watch a skip (rare) happen when it's 'not supposed to'.

Havent tried it yet - but people seem convinced from the emu (my suggestion I might add!)

But I still say it doesnt cheat, its a fault.

The speed to which you refer where the bulb doesnt always light - on some revolutions, the bulb does light as normal and presumably if you hit it on this lap, it would stick.

perhaps it's a fault, ironic though isn't it that only the skill light out of all the squares on the board ever does this non-lighting phenomena....

Given that it can slip if you were to hit it when it didn't light it, this renders the feature not pure skill, as you cannot judge when it's not going to light it's also luck based.

Definitely agree with the 'skipped' lighting if you sit and watch it fly around. I wasn't sure at first if this was:

a) The electrical circuitry not keeping up with the speed of the software (plausible),

or

b) A complete fiddle (more than plausible!)

If anyone does get to the bottom of it, it'd be very interesting to hear about!

PS: When I get a 'slow' skill when you're up to a high-ish level, it doesn't half put me off my rythmn. :(

This was a problem with slower chip p1 WIYBs back in the day.
Take this from a perspective before everyone started blooping on about bloops. You'd go for your winstopper and when you got to £6 it'd be skidding and skidaddling all over the shop. I used to think it's not cheating, just the hardware is too crappy to display the feature properly. I guess it's the same case here.

If it is the first/last bulb to be lit - this would make sense from a programming level (still sloppy code, but what do you expect).

Either way - there a shit machine and I hate them all (yes, even the emptiable ones).
