Nil, a nice summing up before with regard to what's going on and the subjective nature of recog. Trouble is, with the last few posts now I'm confused!

A little correction over the Woman In Green by the way. It was Smudge who put this one forward not me, though I'll forgive you for entertaining the possibility that I may have mistaken Michelle Marsh to be in her 40s (age-wise that is).

The only note I have for M.M. is that she looked a bit like Paris Hilton in the pic, no mention of green dress (just didn't remember). However, on searching I've come across this,

and it does ring a bell, so to speak; Hilton-esque too. Assuming that this is similar to the game picture then we need Smudge to confirm whether or not it's the one he's thinking of. If it is then does that mean you're an old perv Nil? Or am I an old perv regardless for searching out pictures of her on the internet? It was just research your honour!

And now for some waffle about mnemonics and mental schemata.

The schema I'm using for this lot is one that I oh-so unpretentiously call my Celebrity Wacky Races VisualEyesAction Program(me)(TM). The most dynamic static race I can imagine.

The mention of 'mnemonic' triggered a reading sesh of some Wikipedia articles on memory techniques, the Art of Memory page being particularly illuminating. The following captures the essence behind my Wacky Racers:

"Techniques commonly employed in the art include the association of emotionally striking memory images within visualized locations."

It discusses techniques used by scholars, monks and rhetoricians throughout the ages for what were no doubt equally virtuous purposes as the one being discussed in this thread. But then some 16th-century spoilsports came along:

"In 1584, a huge controversy over the method broke out in England when the Puritans attacked the art as impious because it was thought to excite absurd and obscene thoughts; this was a sensational, but ultimately not a fatal skirmish."

Whatever were they thinking of? Michelle Marsh wasn't around in those days. Seems imagination won out in the end though, that is until we read:

"The art or arts of memory as such have largely disappeared from schools, universities and religious institutions, and today are mostly taught and practiced informally."

Hmmmm, no I won't start on that one.

Anyway, an interesting little read that Wikipedia article. There's even an Aristotle passage which features the word 'milk', which is nice.

Also worth a quick gander is the Mnemonic article as it appeared last night if only to try and spot what might be construed as 'fandalism'. And no, it wasn't me. I initially had it down as being Watergate's handiwank but unless he was in Canada on Rogers ...

And a slightly earlier and more 'blahtant' (I'm pushing it now) piece of vandalism on the Mnemonic article. Now that's the type who will end up getting 'mnemonic' confused with 'pneumonic'.

Back to the mystery woman in the green dress It is definitly not Michelle Marsh, this bird had a few wrinkles (but not as many as Testicle man), and was slightly on the chubby side

Ladies and Gentlemen, We Have a Winner (I hope!). Is the mystery celeb in question Wendi Peters, who plays Cilla Battersby-Brown in Coronation Street? In the WWTBAM photo she is wearing a light green dress at some sort of awards ceremony and her hair is a little longer and blonder than in this photo but it certainly seems plausible:

Bad Luck Nil, I would have recognised this lucious lady as my good lady friend is a big Corrie fan, and am forced to watch it certain nights when the footie isn't on, and my girl in a green dress was far prettier

Might it be Liza Tarbuck:

The photo of her on WWTBAM shows her wearing a green pashmina over a light green jacket.

Gok, Tarby certainly looks a bit different than usual in that picture (like Britney does on her latest single cover!), mind you it's ten years old. The below pic is pretty close to the one in the game (the Img tag won't work on these for some reason):

If she isn't Smudge's 'Woman In Green' then my best offer is Gaby Roslin who, incidentally, was also spawn in the birthing pool of '64. Can't remember Roslin's colours though.

Top Googling, K_Oranj! That is the exact outfit she is wearing in the WWTBAM photo so hopefully smudge will soon be able to remove us from our tenterhooks...
