No 3. was indeed called Microbe, real name Ian Doody - see here for details: http://www.everyhit.com/record3.htmlgrecian wrote:I think Jordy was a bit older. The 3 year old is from the 60s. Was it Microbe? Real name Ian somebody?
That is right - it was the first (and I presume still the only) No. 1 to make No. 1 again with different lyrics.QuizMaster wrote:I seem to recall 5 had some distinction about it being the only record to be No.1 on 2 separate occasions where the lyrics had been altered
Just 1. and 2. to get. A clue for 1. is that the two songs were around 4 years apart and for 2. is that it's a David Bowie song (and it seems on checking that the words are in fact slightly different in his song but I'm sure they were "inspired" by A Day in the Life at the very least!).
That's a good guess but the answer I was looking for was "Fun is the one thing that money can't buy" from She's Leaving Home. The other one is obviously "(Money) can't buy me love" as you said.grecian wrote:On number 1, one of the answers is 'Love'. Is the other 'Everything' (from 'Money')?
The last answer is "Young Americans", where Bowie uses the line "I heard the news today, oh boy"...
Right, that's enough of that, back to posts about how ItBoxes are destroying the world...

nobody ever wins on those things.
http://www.answers.com/topic/debbie-harry backs you up, with..
"On February 23 1999, at the age of 53, Harry became the oldest female singer to reach No. 1 in the UK with Maria (Blondie's first single from their album No Exit), a record she still holds."

i'm aware that there's an outside chance that someone could post some q's and then turn up but i'm willing to take that chance!
