beware of the tangent
[quote="grecian"]Again, some interesting posts.
I've wondered which of Cool's reasons (a) to (e) is the correct one to explain the ability of "AWP boys" to unearth the kinds of weaknesses that have been exploited on the unnamed title we have all been talking about in this thread. I know a basic low-win set of moves on the game in question and I find it difficult to believe that anyone would have stumbled on them by accident, or been able to replicate them had they done so (I may be wrong of course, and arrogantly thinking that because *I* wouldn't have been so capable, neither would others). The same point goes for the "plugging" trick which Cool mentions in relation to a recent Paragon title (which I think was Casino Royale, not Cash Stacka, Cool) - again, I find it difficult to believe that players would have discovered by chance that turning the game on and off again at a precise moment would reset things. My suspicion is that Cool's theory (d) may be the correct one here.
I wouldn't go as far as Istenem though, whilst as always enjoying the whimsicality of his late-night postings. Of course I'd rather than SWP cabinets weren't empty, but realistically if others are able through fair means to empty machines via certain titles, I take my hat off to them. Even a GamesNet emptied via the unnamed game represents a certain skill on the part of the perpretrator - that of finding a cabinet with it on, as there's not many about now, in my experience. And when, say, there were two or three exploitable titles on the Paragon recently, it was very rare to find a literally empty Paragon (I only saw one or two), so the practical consequences are fairly limited.
My feelings about AWP players are the same as JG's about SWP players - I would love to see a top one in action and gain even a small smidgen of understanding of the nature of the challenges they face and the skills they need to overcome those challenges. My AWP exploits are confined to the odd two or three quid in and two or three quid out on an AWP while waiting for the SWP, and AWPs are really as closed a book to me as something like bridge or backgammon. I completely agree it's senseless to talk about which skill is best and can certainly see the elegance of high level AWP abilities, which certainly seem more "mysterious" than SWP skills to me.
Right, I'm off to Google and see whether I can unearth a higher-win set of moves on the unnamed game - I know one of these cabinets within

Cool, cool wrote:I dont like people 'cheating' awp's and swp's but glitches in programming and switching a machine off/on to reset games isnt cheating in my book.It could be even argued that the gaming companies are to blame about refill keys-- if they dont like it it should be easy for them to develop a better system.
I'm comming round your house with a bump key, and it's your fault that you fitted that super secure 9 lever yale lock. The contents of your house are mine, and you should have known better, and its all your fault....
Have you tried another lock maunfacturer? Maybe Lowe and Fletcher might be able to supply you?cool wrote:if you dont like it it should be easy for you to develop a better system.

Or on the other hand is theft actualy just plain and simple theft?
If I left my front door unlocked it does not give you the right to enter my house, let alone take anything does it?
If you have a child and you are distracted for a second it does not give the right for a kiddy fiddler to interfere with the child does it?
Years ago I watched a pro pro pro pro pro AWPer empty a Barcrest 'High Flyer' by manipulating it into a position where it had no choice but to pay the (£25) jackpot. It was amazing to watch, and an example of knowledge and investment. In my book this is the same as an SWP player learning all the answers to the questions in a certain game.
Again in my book, this is totally different to people physically attacking something (SWP/AWP/Your front door/Your loved ones).
Please note, this is not a go at cool, but just for my records; Cool can you PM me your address, and times when you will be out?
Ed
Oh, I'm so scared.

thats a bit of an extension. I thought refill keys just indicated input/output % payout of machines.
As I have never wanted to play awp's I'm not knowledgeable on them.
Im saying that people shouldnt use things like this but if they give the player such an advantage why has the internet been awash with adverts selling them? Why arent the advertisers prosecuted and their websites removed?

incidentally I'd be interested if there is such a thing as the random jackpot casino pro- dont the casino fruities operate in the same way as pubs. In my area there used to be seasoned players touring casinos such as Eric 'the ghost' ,Sean (Bournemouth),Dr Mike, Trevor (relocated to Kent?),James(Southampton) et al and with the random jackpot machine dissapeared from the casinos. Now that Rileys are switching over to the random what is going to happen to the seasonned hardenned pro?
Yep [D] is without a doubt the case with Casino Royale. Starts with the Industry, then onto the top, top, top, top boys and so on and so forth as the market for information dictates.
In response to Cool's last posting in this thread, you have highlighted what is known as 'The Big Squeeze'. The bandit boy's cards have been marked.
That's one thing to say about SWP, as long as there are games which give rewards for being good at correctly answering questions, you're laughing. I appreciate there are so many ways you can denature a shiny turd, be it 30p jackpots, impossible targets blah blah but from what I can glean, the top, top, top, top SWPists are not sweating.

I can understand the deleted threads debate, but some things are better left to pm only. Workers don't last that long as it is (currently competing with at least one pub local on a quizzer which is usually empty, wouldn't want more competition).
Probably be same reaction if an out of town SWP player started leaving all your machines with scraps in them (after all they're "your" machines and "your" profit is being stolen). Everybody thinks that way and is lying if they say otherwise.

Thats true but the thing that aggravated me more were people who approached you whilst doing a circuit and they were machine players talking to you inanely and making out they were your long lost best friend whilst angling for machines and tips on how to play them!

But they are not your machines. You do not own them, and it is not your profit. They are put there for anybody to play, and for anybody to win on.
It reminds me of a fruit machine chat site that used to exist where one 'player' used to dribble on and on about 'His Machines' and the fact that other players should watch out if they 'dare' play them. He used to score a 'W' into the machines to mark them as 'His terittory'. I found one such machine, and regularly played it in hope to bump into 'W', to lay anchor if you know what I mean.
It's not what you know, but who has been there first.

I've never met another player who is as good at putting his own touches to machines lol, he used to make some quality buttons to put on old crests etc too, before I knew him I used to piss myself with the stuff he put about other players on the button, about a certain player getting a milk round in the mornings and how the same guy had a broken speedo on his car too, complete with graphics!!
Tho to be honest the more scratched a fruit is the more likely I am to do it, also I'll scratch the initials out etc too. Completely worthless scratching with your initials IMO, only time I'll scratch is my own marking to indicate bad program on that unit and that's it for me.
Funnily enough I never used to get any confrontational vibes from him before/when I met him so I'm not sure about the internet posting etc...
Bored of the grind.
Can I offer a tangent to the tangent? I would say that once I have played the few games I play on any particular cabinet then it is no longer 'my machine' in any sense at all for around a month, i.e. I won't bother with it again for around that length of time. This I'd say is the minimum turnaround time for the games I play; I'd like it to be shorter but that's the way things are at the moment. Anyone who sticks to just constantly revisiting a small number of machines in their immediate locale is severely limiting their options...
